Lakota halts Old Fort

KANSAS &emdash; Old Fort got out to a quick start, but Lakota would control the middle quarters in a 63-55 win over the Stockaders.

After trailing 15-10 at the end of the first quarter, Lakota (8-8) would put up 20 points in the second quarter and 25 points in the third. Old Fort (2-13) outrebounded the Raiders 28-21 and shot 11 of 16 from the foul line compared to 8 of 19 for Lakota, but turned the ball over 25 times while Lakota had just nine. The Stockaders shot well from the field, going 21 of 38.

Four Lakota players scored in double figures, including Kelly Gosche, who hit four 3-pointers on her way to 15 points. Ashley Broski and Kristen Lentz (two 3's) added 14 points apiece, and Sue Brickner finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Breena McCool led all scorers with 25 points for Old Fort, and Stephanie Berlekamp and Whitney Magers chipped in 12 apiece. Magers hit a pair of shots from behind the 3-point arc, and Berlekamp hauled in 11 rebounds while McCool grabbed seven.

Both teams hit the floor again Thursday, as Lakota is at Elmwood and Old Fort goes to Bettsville.
