Tall Trees to branch out into Clyde, Green Springs

While senior housing seems to be overtaking some cities, Green Springs and Clyde could soon be seeing their own senior housing developments.

Bryan Glover, executive director of the Seneca County Commission on Aging, said Tall Trees would like to construct housing developments in the two towns. The firm needs a non-profit agency to serve as a partner to receive low-interest loans for the project.

Tall Trees is pairing with the Commission on Aging to provide a 42-unit development located on Water Street. Work is to begin in the spring.

''They want the Commission on Aging to partner with them again. We would get the consultation fee and a permanent space for our meal site,'' he told the board of trustees Wednesday.

The Commission on Aging conducts a meal site in Green Springs, in a church which donates the space. Glover said there are times where church activities conflict with the meal site.

By constructing the development in Green Springs, the meal site could permanently be located in an office at the development.

The agency also would receive about $500 per unit as a consultation fee. Glover said a total of 20-40 units would be constructed.

The board agreed to allow Glover to discuss the projects further with Tall Trees. However, the issue is to be presented to the board for approval before the agency enters into the partnership.
