Clyde High teacher among 14 arrested in drug bust

CLYDE - Fourteen people, including a Clyde High School teacher, were arrested Tuesday in an undercover drug sting.
The teacher, Jerry R. Evans, 48, 219 E. McPherson Highway, Clyde, was arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine.
Clyde police were assisted by Fremont and Bellevue police, the Sandusky County sheriff's office, Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and dog units from the Perkins Township police. A joint statement said the operation was in progress for a year.
Clyde Police Chief Bruce A. Gower said the drug sales did not take place on school property.
''Not that we can prove,'' he said. ''All of our buys took place off school property and the drugs were found in his apartment.''
Gower said police spent a year making drug buys from Evans and other people.
Gower said police had an informant who had graduated from the school.
Police expect more arrests in the next few weeks. Those arrested so far:
Victoria S. Mansch, 44, 230 Hickory St., Clyde, was charged with trafficking in marijuana within 100 feet of juveniles. Raymond Brooks, 19, 177 Fairborne Ave., Clyde, was charged with trafficking in marijuana.
Timothy A. Cooper, 38, 239 W. Maple St., Clyde, was charged with possession of a weapon under disabiality. Jacon C. Wax, 21, 239 W. Maple St., Clyde, was charged with trafficking in marijuana while possessing a firearm and within 1,000 feet of a school.
Kurt R. Miller, 30, 217 Norris Drive, Clyde, was charged with trafficking in marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school. William E. Chaffee, 30, 100 Rawlins Way, Clyde, was charged with trafficking in marijuana within 1,000 feet of a juvenile.
Scot B. LeMaitre Jr. 18, 18, 303 S. Main St., Clyde, was charged with sexual contact with a female over 13 but under 16, and drug counts. Daniel Noftz, 18, 2357 CR 216, Clyde, was charged with trafficking in marijuana. Daniel Brown, 40, 219 E. MacPherson Hwy, Apt. 6, Clyde, was charged with trafficking in cocaine.
Four youths also were arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana.
