Drug sting nets arrests of area residents

A daytime sweep by an anti-drug unit resulted in the arrest of at least seven area residents Friday.

The METRICH Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a sweep based on a seven-month sting operation which netted 664 grams of marijuana, 10 grams of cocaine and 109 hits of LSD &emdash; with a total street value of $6,000 &emdash; and the seizure of two vehicles.

Warrants were issued for 10 adults and two youths. As of Friday night, seven adults were in custody: Anthony Smith, 21, Findlay; Michael Hahn, 20, 130 Rock St., Fostoria; Matthew Askam, 20, 129 Oak St., Tiffin; Warren E. Feucht, 27, 575 E. Perry St. #E3, Tiffin; Leslie Brose, 24, and Jeremy A. Brose, 23, both of 106 Vine St., Tiffin; and Ralph W. Pope, 40, 9650 E. CR 12, Bloomville.

Three people were being sought last night.

In all, a Seneca County grand jury handed down 29 felony drug charges based on the undercover operation involving sales of cocaine, marijuana and LSD. Indictments also cover permitting drug abuse and corrupting juveniles with drugs. Some allege that drug sales were made within the vicinity of youths and area schools.

The drug unit includes members of the Seneca County sheriff's office and prosecutor's office and the Fostoria and Tiffin police departments.
