Douglas H. Mitchem Sr.
Seneca Wire retiree

Douglas Harold Mitchem Sr., 79, of 461 W. Lytle St., Lot 146, Fostoria, died at 2:45 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, in the Independence House, Fostoria.

He was born in Gary, W.Va., March 16, 1919, to Carl and Nora Virginia (Sizemore) Mitchem. His wife, Mary (Mitchem) Mitchem, whom he married May 27, 1939, in Kimball, W.Va., survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: five sons, Harold E. Mitchem of Helena, Bill R. Mitchem of Tiffin, Robert A. and Ronald L. Mitchem, both of Fostoria and Douglas J. Mitchem of Colora, Md.; two daughters, Mrs. James (Linda G.) Leitch and Mrs. Raymond (Carol S.) Nye, both of Fostoria; four sisters, Gladys Cochran of North Tazewell, Va., Mrs. Pete (Mildred) Thomas of Fayetteville, N.C., Mrs. Carl (Ruth) Kiser of Montcolm, W.Va. and Mrs. George (Donna Jean) Crouse of Concorde, Calif; 22 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were two grandchildren; two brothers, Carl C. ''Buster'' and Junior Mitchem; and a sister, Bertie Blankenship.

Employed as a coal miner in West Virginia for 23 years, Mr. Mitchem also worked at the Seneca Wire in Fostoria for 25 years at the Wire Drawer, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of UAW Local 775 of Fostoria.

The Rev. Larry Hatfield will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Thursday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria Chapel. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Anna B. Patchett
Former factory employee/domestic cleaner

Anna B. Patchett, 94, died at 8:10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, in Fairhaven Health Care Community, Upper Sandusky, where she had resided since 1993.

She was born Nov. 26, 1903, in Wharton, to Edwin M. and Emma (Bonsel) Earp. On Nov. 26, 1923, she married Robert E. Patchett. He died Dec. 1, 1960.

Surviving are: a son, Daniel Patchett of Upper Sandusky; three daughters, Mrs. Jack (Betty) Rowland of Marshall, Ark., Barbara Bohlen of Fostoria and Mrs. William (Sandy) Baker Jr. of Upper Sandusky; 30 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mary Jean Neeland of Findlay, Nina Roseberry and Hazel Stiefel, both of Upper Sandusky and Myrtle Iams of Florida.

Three sons, Thomas, Richard and Robert; three daughters, Frances Heffelfinger, Virginia Kessler and JoAnn Clingman; two brothers, Noble and Carl; and two sisters, Maude and Colesta, also are deceased.

Mrs. Patchett, who was affiliated with the First Lutheran Church, retired from the former Daybrook Mfg. Co., Upper Sandusky and also did domestic home cleaning.

She enjoyed raising chickens, her pet cat, playing bingo and making homemade noodles.

Services in the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Charles Steward officiating. Burial will be in Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Visitation at the funeral home is 6-9 p.m. today.
