Mildred E. Hollenbaugh-Smothers

Mildred E. Hollenbaugh-Smothers, 101, of 725 Columbus Ave, formerly of 504 Glenview Drive, Fostoria, died at 11:55 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, in Good Shepherd Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 22, 1898, in Fostoria to Arthur and Bertha (Miller) Hollenbaugh. On Aug. 11, 1923 she married Floyd C. Smothers in Fostoria. He died Oct. 4, 1973.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Mathias of Hot Springs Village, Ark., and Mrs. Suzanne Hopkins of Fostoria; a sister, Mrs. Mary Miller of Bowling Green; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Ray and Arthur Byron Hollenbaugh, and four sisters, Lois Morgenstern, Fern Good, Bessie Kesler and Gertrude Boyd, are deceased.
Mrs. Hollenbaugh-Smothers retired from teaching in 1957 after teaching in Seneca County schools, Fostoria City schools, West Millgrove and Risingsun. She graduated from Fostoria High School in 1917 and attended the Ohio State and Bowling Green State universities. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Westminster Circle of Kings Daughters, Ohio Forestry Association, Fostoria Women's Club, Fostoria Ladies Garden Club, and was a former member of Fostoria Beautification Committee. She helped organize the first Child Conservation League in Fostoria in 1930, and the Fostoria Ladies Garden Club in 1971. She was awarded with an honorary citation for outstanding work in horticulture from the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs in 1980. She planted 24 trees at Longfellow School in Fostoria during the 1970s.
The Rev. Branson J. Hawkes will officiate the funeral at Fountain Cemetery at a later date. Burial will be at Fountain Cemetery.
The Mann-Hare Funeral Home of Fostoria is handling the funeral arrangements.

Ivalene (Wyss) DeBolt
Former Sycamore resident
Ivalene (Wyss) DeBolt, 75 of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of the Sycamore area, died at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 19, 1999, at her home. She was born March 13, 1925, to Harry and Marcella (Parsell) Wyss. She married George DeBolt. He died in 1990.
Survivors include: a son, George DeBolt of North Fort Myers, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Susan Malye of Denver, Colo.; a brother, Gene Wyss of Sycamore; two sisters, Mrs. Joanne Justice and Mrs. Irene Hart, both of Upper Sandusky; and three granddaughters.
A sister, Mrs. Judy Reed, died in 1991.
Mrs. DeBolt was a 1942 graduate of Sycamore High School.
A memorial service was Jan. 22 in the Hope Hospice Chapel in Fort Myers, Fla. The body was cremated.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Myrtle I. Beard

Myrtle I. Beard, 75, of Hamer St., Clyde, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at her home. She was born Jan. 23, 1925, to Everett and Effie (Young) Booze. On Dec. 3, 1949, she married Charles L. Beard, Sr. He died Jan. 12, 1989.
Survivors include: a son, Charles L. Beard Jr. of Clyde; a brother, LeRoy Booze of Vickery; and five grandchildren.
Six brothers, Ralph, Raymond, Clyde, Marion, Kenneth and Clarence Booze; four sisters, Edna Nason, Edith Cox, Irma Heaton, Grace Booze; and two infant siblings, are deceased.
Mrs. Beard was a graduate of Fremont Schools, was a homemaker and a cook at various restaurants and for a number of organizations. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Clyde, where she was a deaconess; Samaritan circle at the church; OES 73 of Clyde; Eagles Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary, both of Clyde; Daughters of America, Jr OES, for which she had held many local and district offices.
The Rev. Alex McLean will officiate the 10 a.m. Saturday service at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation hours are 2-4 and 7-9 tonight at the funeral home with Eagles services at 6:45 and Eastern Star services at 7.
Memorials may be made to Masonic Temple Board, West Buckeye Street, Clyde.
Philip B. Thomson

A memorial service for Philip B. Thomson, 73, 11 Westwood Court, who died Dec. 24, 1999, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Graveside services for Gerald L. Stone, 38, of 1534 SR 53, McCutchenville, who died Jan. 13 due to an accident, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Cemetery, McCutchenville.
