Frank W. Linder
Former Bellevue resident
Frank W. Linder, 73, of Norwalk, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at his home after a long illness. He was born March 2, 1927, in Milan to Edwin and Victoria (Long) Linder. He married Agnes L. Phillips Nov. 5, 1949, in Bellevue. She survives.
Other survivors include: six sons, Andrew F., Steven J., and Edwin C. Linder, all of Norwalk, Allen R. Linder of Milan, Gerald E. Linder of Collins, and Marvin J. Linder of Wakeman; four daughters, Linda Lou Huey and Tina Marie Davidson, both of Norwalk, Victoria Rose Zipfel of Louisville, Ky., and Rita Ann Linder of Norwalk; a sister, Viola Englert of Norwalk; 22 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were twin sons, Charles and Martin Linder, and two brothers, Robert and John Linder.
Friends will be received 9-10:30 a.m. today at the family residence, 1547 Old State Road, Norwalk, where the body will lie in state. The Mass of Christian Burial will beat 11 a.m. Friday at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, Peru Twp., the Rev. Nelson Beaver, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Foos-Klein Funeral Home, Clyde is in charge of the arrangements.
Lola Fling
Fremont resident
Lola Fling, 81, of 1685 Countryside Drive, Fremont, died at the Countryside Continuing Care Center, Fremont, at 12:10 a.m., Thursday, May 18, 2000. She was born May 4, 1919 to Joel and Cora (Hatley) Hartsell. On Feb. 19, 1944 she married Gerald W. Fling. He died Aug. 13, 1991.
Survivors include: two daughters, Brenda K. Fling and Rhea K. Martin, both of Fremont; a sister, Vassie Cranford of North Carolina; three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Grover and Cletus Hartsell, and two sisters, Arlene Hartsell and Faye Smith.
Mrs. Fling is a 1937 graduate of Oakboro High School, Oakboro, N.C. She worked in sales for 10 years at Kaminsky Jewelers, and was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Fostoria.
The funeral will be private, with no visitation. Burial will be at Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia.
The Mann-Hare Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gail Angel officiating, for Robert G. "Bob" Franks, 40, who died at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at his home on Webster Street. Memorials may be made to his children's college fund.
Earl Richard Smyser
Retired Basic employee
Earl Richard Smyser, 84, of 411 Kansas St., Green Springs, died at 3:32 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2000, in Fremont Memorial Hospital. He was born May 12, 1916, to George W. and Carrie (May) Smyser. On Oct. 3, 1959, he married Cora M. (Shiley) Selvey. She is deceased.
Surviving are two sons, Stanley Selvey and Sanford Selvey, both of Green Springs; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Burns of Tiffin; a brother, Kenneth Smyser of Tiffin; two sisters, Rena Marie Durst of Clyde and Lois Delene Kinsworthy of Monroe; 35 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sons, Manley, Robert, Harold and Richard Selvey; a brother, George W. Smyser Jr.; and two sisters, Ilda and Zella Smyser.
Mr. Smyser was a graduate of J.O.U.A.M. class of 1934 and retired from Basic Co., Maple Grove. He is a veteran, having served during World War II in the Middle East. He is a member of Green Springs VFW 6067; Green Springs American Legion 295; and Basic Quarter Century Club.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Engle-Young Funeral Home, Green Springs. Burial will be at Green Springs Cemetery.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the Green Springs veterans.
Visitation hours are 2-4 and 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Wayne L. Rickle
McCutchenville resident
Wayne L. Rickle, 64, of 1419 SR 53 N., Mccutchenville, died at 4 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. He was born May 27, 1935, to Lee E. and Florence (Farthing) Rickle, both deceased. On Dec. 27, 1953 he married Ilah M. Barth. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Jeffrey W. Rickle of Upper Sandusky; a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Payne of McCutchenville; two brothers, Leonard Rickle of Findlay and Billy Rickle of Wharton; three sisters, Mrs. Treva Bakies of Carey, Mrs. Bernita Runion of Tiffin and Mrs. Betty Bardon of Chicago, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were five brothers.
Mr. Rickle was a 1953 graduate of Wharton High School and former manager of U.S. Commission Co., McCutchenville, for 17 years. He was a farmer and former owner of Rickle Trucking Co., and worked for 10 years at Guardian Industries. His church affiliation was protestant. He raised and raced standardbred race horses. He was a member of Upper Sandusky Elks Lodge 83, Tiffin Moose Lodge 846 and Tiffin Eagles Aerie 402.
The Rev. Roy Howell will officiate the 2 p.m. Sunday funeral at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Elma L. Hahn
Tiffin homemaker
Elma L. Hahn, 93, of 51 St. Clair St., Tiffin, died at 2:40 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Autumnwood Care Center. She was born Nov. 28, 1906, to Charles and Catherine (Biehler) Beck. On Aug. 17, 1929, she married Harold W. Hahn. He died June 13, 1989.
Surviving are nieces and nephews: M. Blair Alsip and Miriam Frankart, both of Tiffin, Barbara Dryfuse of Republic; and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Arlington Beck; three sisters, Mabel Beck, Mary Beck Alsip and Catherine Beck.
Mrs. Hahn was a 1926 Columbian High School graduate, she was a homemaker and member of Trinity United Church of Christ.
Deacon William Fahrenbruck will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Saturday services at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burdell A. "Slick" Black

Burdell A. "Slick" Black, 73, of Manhattan St., Clyde, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Fremont Memorial Hospital. He was born June 1, 1926, to Clarence and Daisy (Bloom) Black. On June 25, 1949 he married Margie J. Kock. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Scott Black of Clyde and Paul R. Black of Green Springs; a brother, Marlin Black of Tiffin; and a sister, Maxine Herbert of Tiffin.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Doyle and Cloyce Black, and two sisters, Betty Fey and Velva Dye.
Mr. Black was a 1944 Green Springs High School graduate. He attended Terra Community College and University of Wisconsin. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II. He worked as a lubrication technician at Whirlpool Corp. in Clyde for 42 years, retiring in 1991. A member of Clyde Eagles 2291; Independent Order of Foresters, he was an avid Cleveland Browns, Indians and Buckeyes fan, and enjoyed horse racing.
The Rev. Steve Wood will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Monday funeral at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Burial will be at McPherson Cemetery, Veterans Section.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home with Eagles services at 7.
Military graveside services will beconducted by the Clyde American Legion and Clyde V.F.W.
Robert Charles Holland
Clyde/Green Springs teacher
Robert Charles Holland, 66, of Smith Street, Green Springs, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at his home. He was born Aug. 17, 1933, in Toledo to James and Maybelle (Geoffrion) Holland Sr. On March 31, 1956, he married Mary Lee Nontell. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Gary Holland of Pandora and Jerry Holland of Norwalk; five daughters, Sue Holland of Bucyrus, Sheryl Holland of Green Springs, Mary Lou Holland of Zanesville, Deborah Holland of Bettsville and Roberta Holland of Sylvania; 10 grandchildren; and a brother, James Holland Jr. of Maumee.
Mr. Holland was a U.S. Army veteran and a junior high school teacher for Clyde-Green Springs Schools, retiring in 1990.
Visitation and services will be private for the family. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.

William R. McConnell
Tiffin residents' father
William R. McConnell, 70, of Mt. Vernon, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. He was born Jan. 6, 1930, to Robert Rae and Daisy Belle (Long) McConnell.
He was married for 42 years to Ruth E. Bieberbach, and she survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Donald W. McConnell of Apple Creek and Roger A. McConnell of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Karen Sue McConnell of Tiffin; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Wolfe and Mrs. Sarah Daniels, both of Mt. Vernon, and Mary Miller of Danville; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Mr. McConnell was a self-employed farmer and member of Homer Presbyterian Church, and was a U.S. Army veteran.
The Rev. Paul Atkinson will officiate the 11 a.m. Monday funeral at the Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica. Burial will be at Brandon Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.

Minnie L. Conrad

Minnie L. Conrad, 78, of Circle Drive, Fostoria, died at 2:25 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2000, at the North Shore Retirement Community in Lakeside-Marblehead. She was born Jan. 20, 1922, to Merle and Nancy (Noblit) Boice. On Aug. 31, 1938, she married the Rev. A. Richard Conrad. He survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Moyer of Sandusky; four brothers, Bill Boice of Bowling Green, Ed Lockmiller of North Baltimore, Dick Lockmiller of Defiance and Byron Lloyd Hall of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Karen Neier of Weston, Leona Spears and Jean Lanning, both of Bowling Green; and two grandchildren.
She was predeceded in death by a brother, Walter Boice; and two sisters, Norma Spears and Lucille Conrad.
Mrs. Conrad was receptionist for Dr. Markey in Fostoria for many years, and was a homemaker and pastor's wife. She was a member of the Trinity United Brethren Church in Fostoria, Woman's Missionary Society at the church, coordinator of Summer Bible School at Trinity and other area churches, past president of the Portage Holiness Camp Auxiliary in Portage, Ohio, and volunteered at the Fostoria Sharing Kitchen.
The Rev. Kenneth Graham, the Rev. Keith Davis, and the Rev. Steven Shover will officiate the 11 a.m. Monday funeral at the Trinity United Brethren Church on Thomas Street, Fostoria. Burial will be at Knollcrest Cemetery near Arcadia.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Rosella C. Thiel
Upper Sandusky resident
Rosella C. Thiel, 98, resided at 351 W. Walker St., Upper Sandusky, for the past 16 years, died at 11:10 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2000. She was born May 30, 1901, to Nicholas J. and Elizabeth (Benner) Seifert. On Sept. 29, 1925, she married Albert F. Thiel. He died May 23, 1977.
Survivors include: a son, Paul F. Thiel of Upper Sandusky; 14 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by: a son, Richard A. Thiel; a daughter Margery Vaughn; two grandchildren; three brothers, Ed, Frank, and Fred Seifert; six sisters, Odella Logsdon, Clara Seifert, Emma Zachardy, Hilda A. Seifert, Ida Lesser, and Mary Fischer.
Mrs. Thiel was a homemaker and care giver for many of her family, a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Upper Sandusky, lifelong member; member of C.L.C., Rosary Altar Society, and did volunteer worker for St. Vincent De Paul Society. She enjoyed cards, Cleveland Indian baseball, cooking and reading.
The Rev. James Holmer will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Upper Sandusky. Burial will be at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Bringman-Clark Funeral Home. Biblical scripture service will be at 7:45, followed by a C.L.C. memorial service.
