Harold W. Anderson Jr.
Retired mechanical engineer
Harold Wesley "Roo-Georgie" Anderson Jr., 65, of Fostoria, died at 9:19 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in Medical College of Ohio, Toledo.
He was born May 28, 1935, in Prospect to the late Harold W. and Ruth Anderson Sr. On June 27, 1957, in Marion, he married Patricia K. Kemmerly. She survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: two sons, Randy A. and Rodney L. Anderson of Orange Park, Fla., and Carbondale, Colo., respectively; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Sandra L.) Zender of Fostoria; four grandchildren; a brother, Robert Anderson of Marion; and a sister, Mrs. Tom (Betty) Morgan of Marion.
A 1953 graduate of Prospect High School, Mr. Anderson also held a degree in mechanical engineering from Chicago Allied Institute of Technology. He was retired from the Budd Co., Carey, where he worked as a mechanical engineer, and was an accomplished ship and yacht builder, having designed three sailing vessels.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Intelligence Corps. An active, current member of Fostoria Chapter of the United States Power Squadron, he had served as past commander and past newsletter editor.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 26 at the Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria, where military graveside services will be conducted by United Veterans of Fostoria.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., today, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be madt to the dialysis unit at Medical College of Ohio.
William D. Porter
Former Republic resident
William D. Porter, 78, formerly of Republic, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, in Sarasota, Fla.
Survivors include: a son, Jeff Porter, also of Sarasota; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Janine) Bollhaefer of Wheaton, Ill. ; five grandchildren; and a special friend, Patricia Myette.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Frances (Yates) Porter, and a son, Jed Porter.
A memorial service will take place at a later date in Republic.
Colin James Carr
10-month old son
Colin James Carr, 10 months, died Monday, October 23, 2000, in Cuyahoga Falls. He was the son of Adam Elliot and Valerie Wax Carr, who survive.
Also surviving are: maternal grandparents Wayne and Sara Wax and maternal great-grandmother, Evelyn Sertell, all of Tiffin; paternal grandparents, Jean Carr of Cleveland Heights; paternal great-grandmother, Jinny Elliot of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England; aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Cuyahoga Falls. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls.
