Thomas Merton Gray

Thomas Merton Gray, 72, of 3055 Fostoria Road, Fostoria, died at 6:27 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

He was born April 4, 1928, in Tiffin, to the late A. Gordon and Clara (Wertz) Gray. His wife, Nancy Ellen (Cameron) Gray, whom he married Sept. 25, 1954, in the First Presbyterian Church, Fostoria, survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: a son, Gordon Thomas Gray of Scarborough, Maine; three daughters, Mrs. Morton (Teresa E.) Hansen of Fostoria, Mrs. Matt (Lisa J.) Fisher of Westerville and Mrs. Brian (L. Cameron) Winter of Avon Lake; a brother, George A. Gray of Fostoria; and seven grandchildren.

A brother, James Gordon Gray; and a sister, Jane Gray-Stone, prececed him in death.

Mr. Gray, past president of the Geary Family YMCA, Fostoria, retired in 1994 as chairman of the Gray Printing Co. in Fostoria, after 42 years of service.

A 1946 graduate of Culver Military Academy, Culver, Ind. and a 1950 graduate of The College of Wooster, he served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and sang in the choir; Masonic Lodge 288 Free and Accepted Mason, Fostoria Shrine Club, the Valley Creek Lodge, the University Club, Power Squadron, the Fostoria Country Club, Fostoria Area Republican Club and the Rotary Club, where he served as past president, all of Fostoria.

He also was a member of the Catawba Island Club and the Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo and Zenobia Shrine, both of Toledo.

The Rev. R. Edson Reed will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Friday service in the First Presbyterian Church.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, where Masonic memorial services will be at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Fostoria Area Community Foundation or the church.

Patsy S. Walter-Valentine
Homemaker/home health care worker

Patsy S. Walter-Valentine, 42 of 4729 CH 35, Sycamore, died early Monday morning, Nov. 27, 2000, at the Howard Collier Scenic River Area, Tiffin.

She was born Dec. 16, 1957, in Bucyrus, to Byron H. and Maxine L. (Pritchard) Snyder. They survive in rural Sycamore. In 1973, she married Jerry Walter and they were later divorced. In 1989, she married Brad E. Valentine, who survives.

Survivors also include: five children, Heather R. Walter of rural Sycamore, Heidi E. Walter Webster of Adrian, Ohio, J.R. Walter Jr. of Dayton, Patience A. Walter of Bucyrus and Christopher A. Walter of Carey; two step-children, Mrs. Donn (Christy) Pahl of rural Sycamore and Mrs. Mark (Danielle) Murphy of Columbus; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Jerry Snyder of Michigan, Paul Snyder of rural Sycamore and David Snyder of West Virginia; and a sister, Mrs. Jack (Mary) Leib of Norwalk.

A homemaker, Mrs. Valentine also worked in home health care.

She was a member of Sycamore United Methodist Church, and enjoyed shopping and babysitting her grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. Kelly Paul Brown officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the family, in care of the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, 201 W. Saffel Ave., Sycamore, Ohio 44882-0356.
