Harvey Thomas Valentine
Brother of Tiffin woman
Harvey Thomas Valentine, 75, of Massillon, Ohio, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999.
He was born Nov. 7, 1924, in Arcadia, Ohio, to the late Minnie (Bradley) and John Valentine of Bloomville.
He is survived by: his wife, Alice (Reiderman) Valentine of Massillon, Ohio; a son, Larry Valentine of Willard, Ohio; a daughter, Lisa O'Millian of McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey; a step-son, J. Bradley House of Euclid, Ohio; 3 grandsons; a brother, Mervin Valentine of Midland, Texas; three sisters, Cleone Lynn of Santa Clara, Calif., Sue Beeman of Centre, Ala., and Leona Miller of Tiffin, Ohio; and 5 nieces and 9 nephews.
Preceding him in death were 2 brothers, Ernest and Raymond Valentine, and a sister, Cleora Kaizer.
Mr. Valentine was retired from Standard Oil of Ohio.
The funeral will be at noon March 6 at St. Mary's Church, 726 First St., NE, Massillon, Ohio. Burial will be March 7 at St. Mary's Cemetery, Tiffin, Ohio.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. March 5 at Heiter's Funeral Home, 5850 Wales Rd., NW, Massillon, Ohio.
Lester E. Martin
Whirlpool maintenance worker
Lester E. Martin, 66, of Arch Street, Clyde, Ohio, died at 11:55 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at his residence after a month-long illness.
He was born April 29, 1932, in Sandusky, Ohio, to the late Lester and Ada (McLaughlin) Martin. On June 6, 1953, he married Beatrice Gibbs, who survives.
He is survived by: 2 sons, Steve of Clyde and Doug of Wooster; two daughters, Deborah Hatfield of Fremont and Mrs. Tim (Mary) Craig of Clyde; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles of Largo, Fla., and a sister, Vera May Nickle of Huron, Ohio.
A brother, Royce Martin, preceded him in death.
Mr. Martin attended Sandusky schools and was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. A member of the Clyde Eagles, he had worked 44 years in the maintenance department of the Whirlpool Corporation.
The Rev. Arthur ''Bud'' Gibbs will conduct the funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Burial will be in Bakertown Cemetery, rural Clyde. Military graveside services will be provided by the American Legion and VFW, both of Clyde.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Sandusky County Hospice.
Naomi Louise Hardesty
Former State Hospital employee
Naomi Loise Hardesty, 60, of 16 S. Douglas St., Bloomville, Ohio, died at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 17, 1999, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
She was born Nov. 16, 1938, in Harrisburg, Pa., to the late David and Gertrude (Kelso) Doughty.
She is survived by: a son, Paul ''Luke'' Hardesty of Tiffin, Ohio; a daughter, Melinda Lee Miller of Fostoria, Ohio; one grandchild; a brother, John Doughty of California; and 4 sisters, Ginger Davis and Trudy Keels, both of Texas, Frances Kirnich of Ohio and Shirley Cline of Oregon.
One grandson is deceased.
Mrs. Hardesty was a former therapeutic worker at the State Hospital, Tiffin.
A memorial service will take place at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, Tiffin.
Visitation will be noon to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to her family.
Vivian Patrick
Resident of Carrothers
Vivian Patrick, 74, of 8744 S. SR 4, Carrothers, Ohio, died at 9:10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at Altercare Nursing Home, Bucyrus.
She was born May 16, 1924, to the late Homer and Sarah Etta (Davis) Lykins. On Sept. 2, 1943, she married Edward Patrick, who preceded her in death April 1, 1998.
Survivors include: four daughters, Janet Stahl of Carrothers, Mrs. Gary (Stella) Sprague of Greenwich, Sarah Patrick of Carrothers, and Mrs. Loren (Marquita) Smith of Moorehead, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Lionel, Vernon and Donald Lykins of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, Shelby, Ohio, and Moorehead, Ky., respectively; a sister, Patricia Sesco of Galion, Ohio; and a half-sister, Frankie Picklesimer of Willard.
She was preceded in death by: 2 daughters, Georgia Lovell and Deborah Patrick; a brother, Homer Lykins, Jr.; 2 sisters, Olivia Turner and Slyvia Mackey; and 2 half-sisters, Dixie Whitl and Iris Lykins.
Mrs. Patrick worked for Swan Rubber Co. in Bucyrus for 6 years, 1957-63, and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Carrothers.
Pastor Edward Kraft will preside at funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the church, in Carrothers. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven.
Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the church. The Lindsey-Foos-Karcher Funeral Service of Attica is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the church.
Eugene E. Wise
Retired farmer/lumber

Eugene E. Wise, 73, of E. Reed Township Road 8, Attica, Ohio, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at home.
He was born Aug. 3, 1925, in Omar, Ohio, Joseph and Esther F. (Brown) Wise. He married Lenore M. Spackey on Oct. 4, 1950, in Republic, Ohio, and she survives.
Also surviving are: a son and a daughter, David E. Wise and Louise Kaiser, both of Attica; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, Vincent Wise of Bellevue; and two sisters, Theresa C. Proctor and Eileen Reinhart, both of Tiffin.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; a son, Robert Dale Wise; a granddaughter; two brothers, Walter and Richard Wise; and a sister, Florence Alt.
Mr. Wise was a retired farmer and currently worked for Bernard Lumber in Attica. A former Reed Township Trustee, he was a member of Reed Assumption Catholic Church. His hobbies were clocks and restoring old tractors.
The funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Prayers will be recited before the funeral at 9:45 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Foos and Son Funeral Home, 311 W. Main, Bellevue, where a wake service will take place at 8:30 p.m.
