John C. Hunt
Career U.S. Army sergeant
John C. Hunt, 70, of Lowell, Mass., and the husband of Florence (Coriea) Hunt, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at Saints Memorial Medical Center, Lowell Mass.
Born in Fostoria Jan. 23, 1929, to the late William and Cleo Hunt, he attended school in Fostoria and Wayne, Ohio. As a youth, he was active in scouting and attained Eagle Scout.
A career member of the U.S. Army, he had a distinguished service record that spanned 22 years. He served in Vietnam as a combat infantryman with the rank of sergeant first class and was awarded the Purple Heart. He also received the Good Conduct Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense Medal and the Sharpshooters Badge. During his career, he also served overseas in Korea and Germany, and was stationed at Fort Devens, Mass., and at Fort Dix, NJ.
Besides his wife, Florence, he is survived by four daughters, Doren Vieira of Lowell, Michelle Witts of Dracut, Mass., Maryann Hunt and Lisa Motard, both of Lowell; a son, John C. Hunt Jr. of Dracut; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Frances Lambright, Mrs. Richard (Rosalie) Haneberg, both of Fostoria, and Mrs. Ray (Virginia) Mathews of Tiffin; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were at the O'Donnell Funeral Home in Lowell March 13, followed by a funeral Mass at the St. Anthony Church. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lowell.
Lester R. 'Doc' Speaker
Clyde resident
Lester R. "Doc" Speaker, 76, of Prospect Street, Clyde, died Friday, March 26, 1999, at St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio.
Mr. Speaker, a truck driver for BMI Transportation in Genoa, was born Dec. 13, 1922, to Harley J. and Velma E. (Boyer) Speaker, both deceased. On March 11, 1965, he married Margaret Meyer. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons and four daughters: James Speaker of Tiffin, Tris Speaker of Elmore, Ronald Conner of Clyde, Sandra Garrett of Troy, Ala., Mrs. George (Lisa) Staton of Oregon, Mrs. Gerald (Teresa) Mesnard and Mrs. William (Peggy) Mesnard, both of Clyde; two sisters: Mrs. Margie Scovill of Michigan and Mrs. Nell Enright of Port Clinton; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Cloyce, Harold and John Speaker, and five sisters, Betty Croyle, Marie Helvoight, Harleen Wickard, Phylis Shaffer and Edna McClean.
The Rev. David Mills will officiate the 1:30 p.m. today graveside services at the Fairmont Cemetery in Tiffin.
There will be no visitation, The Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home of Clyde is in charge of arrangements.

Janet L. Maye
Bellevue Schools cook
Janet L. Maye, 77, of Sandusky CR 262, Clyde, died Friday, March 26, 1999, at Bellevue Hospital, Bellevue.
She was born an only child Dec. 11, 1921, in York Township to William and Mildred R. (Dymond) Oswald, both deceased. On July 5, 1941, she married James E. Mayes.
She is survived by her husband and three sons, Leigh Maye, Jean Maye and Noel A. Maye, all of Clyde.
A graduate of Clyde High School in 1938, Mrs. Maye was employed by Bellevue Schools as a cook. She was a member of the Sandusky County Kin Hunters.
The 10 a.m. Monday services at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church will be officiated by the Rev. David Vensel and the Rev. Mark Reep. Burial will be at McPherson Cemetery, Clyde.
Family will meet friends at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be made to Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Building Fund or The American Cancer Society.
Michael Judson Williams

Michael Judson Williams, 61, died Thursday, March 25, 1999, in El Paso, Texas, after a prolonged battle with leukemia.
Mr. Williams lived in Sylvania from 1964 to 1980; he was president of Gross Manufacturing, a Toledo business.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Nanette Williams; son, Michael J. Williams Jr. of Raleigh, N.C.; daughters, Katheryn Alexander and Lynn Maestas of Albuquerque, N.M.; and a sister, Dr. Karen Morse of Bellingham, Wash.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Martin Funeral Home West, El Paso.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Bone Marrow Donor Program, the American Cancer Society, or the El Paso Opera.
Robert Joseph Burgh Jr.
Tiffin Resident
Robert Joseph Burgh, Jr., 73, of 686 S. Sandusky St., died at 8:24 a.m. Friday, March 26, 1999, at the St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born March 13, 1926, in Boston, Mass., to Robert Joseph Sr. and Virginia (Tubby) Burgh, both deceased. On April 14, 1979, he married Lois M. (Beitel) Orwig. She survives.
He is preceded in death by a son, Everett Burgh, and brother, Bruce Victoria.
Surviving are a son, Robert Joseph Burgh III of Minneapolis, Minn.; two daughters, Mrs. Lanny (Barbara) Henderson and Mrs. Larry (Vicki) Wood, both of Canton, Mich.; stepchildren, Steven Orwig of Cleveland, Mrs. John (Diane) Thom and Glenn M. Orwig, both of Tiffin; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Burgh, a retired sales manager of Wayne Hall Dodds of Wayne, Mich., was a member of St. Mary's Church of Wayne and a lifetime member of AMVETS and VFW. He served in the U.S. Navy - Seabees with three years in the South Pacific during World War II.
A private funeral will be officiated by the Rev. Rob Breitigam at 11 a.m. Monday at Turner-Engle Funeral Home of Tiffin, with interment at Greenlawn Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to donor's choice.
William Homer Kelly
Father of Tiffin resident
William Homer "Ric" Kelly, 96, died Friday, March 26, 1999, at St. Francis Home.
He was born Sept. 17, 1902, in Frederick, Okla., to Samuel and Fanny May (Hendrick) Kelly. On Oct. 15, 1925, he married Hazel Easterday.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Davis of Tiffin, six grandsons, a granddaughter, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Kelly had been president of the Wichita, Kan., Business Men's Association, personnel director of Beech Aircraft in Wichita, manager of the Green Valley, Ariz., Retirement Community, and manager of numerous motels in Los Angeles.
Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, with burial to be in Wichita, Kan.
