Brian M. Mayer, 23, of 4133 E. CR 50, Tiffin, died at 1:30 a.m. Friday, June 26, 1998, at his home.

He was born April 12, 1975, in Tiffin, to Rose (Brose) and James Mayer, who survive.

Other survivors are: two brothers, James A. II and Daniel W., both at home; a sister, Brenda Mayer of Olmsed Falls; a grandmother, Norma Mayer of Tiffin; and special friends Nicole and Gabe.

Three grandparents, Daniel B. Mayer and William and Louise Brose, preceded him in death.

A member of St. Joseph Church, Tiffin, Mr. Mayer was a 1993 graduate of Calvert High School and had been employed for four years at the Kroger Co. in Tiffin.

A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. James K. Say officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Edwin Merritt Brown
Former Fostoria resident

Edwin Merritt Brown, 78, of Brookhaven Convalescent Center, Toledo, Ohio, died at 4:30 a.m. Friday, June 26, 1998, at the center. He formerly lived at 880 N. Loudon TR 47, Fostoria.

He was born Aug. 22, 1919, in Aloha Township, Cheboygan, Mich., to the late Wilfred and Eva Irene (Pallister) Brown. His first marriage was to Mildred Meister, who died in 1968. The following year, he married Edith Meister. She survives in Fostoria.

Also surviving are: two sons, Albert Brian Brown of Waterville and Bryce Justin Brown of North Lewisburg; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Brenda) Goshe of Fostoria and Mrs. James (Laura Elizabeth) Gorrill Jr. of Southfield, Mich.; and eight grandchildren.

His twin, Albert Henry, and another brother, John, are deceased.

Mr. Brown was a 1938 graduate of Cheboygan (Mich.) High School and served overseas during World War II. He owned and operated the Merchants Credit Bureau in Fostoria 1954-78 and had worked briefly for Fifth Third Bank and Heidelberg College in Tiffin. A member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, he was a member and founder of Fostoria Chapter of Toastmasters, where he served many years as an officer. He also belonged to United Conservation and Outdoor Association Inc., Findlay, and was a former member of Fostoria Kiwanis Club.

A funeral Mass is planned for 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with a rosary being recited at 10 a.m. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Parish Cemetery, Petoskey, Mich.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the church.
