William F. Kirchner
Basic Refractories retiree
William F. Kirchner, 70, 1692 W. SR 18, died in the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo, at 6:04 p.m. Saturday, July 18, 1998.
He was born in Tiffin May 2, 1928, to William E. and Pansy (King) Kirchner. His wife, Anna Marie (Valentine) Kirchner, whom he married in Tiffin, is deceased. He later married Jane Moore. They were divorced.
Survivors include: five children, Mrs. Duane ''Whitey'' (Sandy) Smith of Tiffin, Vickie Kirchner of Findlay, Dennis and Rickie Kirchner and Mrs. Robert (Kelly) Schreiner, all of Tiffin; a stepson, Tony Moore of Tiffin; a sister, Mrs. Marlin Jean Hammond of Tiffin; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A sister, Patricia Ann, is deceased.
A member of the Protestant faith, Mr. Kirchner retired as a storeroom clerk from C.E. Basic Refractories, after 28 years. He also worked at the Moose Lodge for three years.
He was a member of the Basic Quarter Century Club, the AMVETS, Moose Lodge 46 and the Eagles Aerie 402.
The Rev. David Culp will officiate at the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Lenard D. Oldaker Sr.
Atlas Crankshaft retiree
Lenard D. Oldaker Sr., 71, of Fostoria, died at 4 p.m. Friday, July 17, 1998, in St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria.
He was born in Hartford, W.Va., Jan. 6, 1927, to Joseph and Ruby E. (Jeffers) Oldaker. On June 10, 1950, in Point Pleasant, W.Va., he married Elizabeth May Adkins. She survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: four sons, Lenard D. Jr., Clinton M. and James D. Oldaker, all of Fostoria, and Douglas R. Oldaker of Gibsonburg; three daughters, Darlene H. Vanderhoff, Roberta G. Clauss and Freida L. Brown, all of Fostoria; a brother, William Richard Oldaker of West Virginia; 20 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Preceding him in death were a daughter, Elizabeth M. Smith, six brothers and a sister.
Mr. Oldaker, a member of Local 336, retired in 1987 as a towmotor operator from Atlas Crankshaft, Fostoria.
Services in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria Chapel, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Burial for the family will be private.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 1-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.
Mae Swanagin
Autumnwood Care resident
Mae Swanagin, 80, died Sunday, July 19, 1998, in the Autumnwood Care Center, where she had resided since Oct. 12, 1995. Arrangements are pending at the Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs.
