William T. Stires
Former Outdoor Advertising employee

William T. Stires, 82, 233 Mohawk St., died at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 1998, in Autumnwood Care Center.

He was born in Plainfield, N.J., Sept. 19, 1915, to Frank and Frances (Hand) Stores. On March 30, 1939, in Willard, he married Katherine A. Klopfenstein. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Beverly) Dunlap of Palm Harbor, Fla. and Mrs. Mark (Janet) Richards of Des Moines, Iowa; and four grandchildren.

A brother, Fred Stires, also is deceased.

Mr. Stires, a 1933 graduate of Willard High School, had been employed at Outdoor Advertising in Des Moines and Toledo.

A World War II U.S. veteran, having served in the 3rd Infantry Division in Italy, France and Germany, he was a lifetime member of Elks Lodge 94, Tiffin.

He also was an avid sports fan and enjoyed bowling and golfing.

Graveside services in Fairmont Cemetery will be private.

There will be no visitation. The Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice, the YMCA or a charity of the donor's choice.

Richard Porter, 81, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at his home at 59 Westwood Drive. Arrangements are pending at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.
