Frances Hitchings
Resident of Fostoria
Frances Marie Hitchings, 94, of Fostoria, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Independence House in Fostoria.
She was born Aug. 10, 1907, to the late John and Millie (Fruth) Diebley. She married William Hitchings July 30, 1955, at West Independence UMC, Fostoria. He died in 1981.
She is survived by: two stepsons, William Hitchings of Port Clinton and James Hitchings of Arcadia; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Dreisbach of Fostoria and Mrs. Ruth Sullenberger of Carey; 13 step-grandchildren and 15 step-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were two stepsons, Robert and Raymond Hitchings, and two brothers, Harold and Elton Diebley.
Mrs. Hitchings was a graduate of Fostoria High School, a member of West Independence U.M. Church, a member of United Methodist Women of the church, a charter member and longtime secretary/treasurer of Arcadia Senior Citizens.
She was employed by the A & P Store and John B. Rogers Productions, both in Fostoria.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at West Independence U.M.C., Fostoria. The Rev. Jeff Racker will be the officiant. Interment will be in Arcadia Cemetery, Arcadia.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

John Soule
Resident of Fostoria
John H. Soule, 72, of Stinchcomb Drive, Fostoria, died at 5:20 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at St. Catherine's Care Center in Fostoria.
He was born Jan. 7, 1929, in Amsden to Arthur and Ida (Whicker) Soule. They are deceased. He married Joana L. Seewer July 8, 1948, in Burgoon. She survives in Fostoria.
Survivors include a son, John A. Soule of Lafayette, Ind.; three daughters, Mrs. David (Karen) Havens of Wagrum, Ohio, Mrs. Duane (Diana) Edinger of Risingsun and Mrs. David (Teresa) Moyer of Fostoria; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Soule, and a sister, Joyce Beryl Klotz.
Mr. Soule graduated in 1947 from Jackson Liberty High School. He retired in 1977 from Allied Signal after 30 years. He was a member of Girton Church of God, where he served as trustee and treasurer for 24 years.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. The Rev. Ted Hill will be the officiant.
Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery near Risingsun.
Visitation is 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dolores Wells
Resident of Fremont
Dolores J. Wells, 69, of Fremont, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Fremont Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 11, 1932, in Tiffin to Earl and Caroline (Palmerton) Digby. They are deceased. She married Paul Wells July 7, 1962, in Tiffin. He survives in Fremont.
Survivors also include: a daughter, Ann Wells of Jackson, Wyo.; four brothers, Tom, Richard, John and Jim Digby, all of Tiffin; two sisters, Hazel Scalf of Tiffin and Sandy George of Palmetto, Fla.
A brother, Jake Digby, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Wells worked for the former Ohio Power Co. for 20 years and the former Fisher's Big Wheel.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home in Fremont. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery in Tiffin.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Gerald Woodruff
Resident of Fostoria
Gerald E. "Jerry" Woodruff of TR 112, Fostoria, died at 7:02 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, at The Toledo Hospital.
He was born Nov. 4, 1943, to Martha Woodruff. She is deceased. He married Vickie L. Cole Oct. 31, 1992, in Fostoria. She survives in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: a son, seven daughters, six brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Woodruff was a member of Girton Church of God, Risingsun, and the Eagles of Wapakoneta.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Girton Church of God, Risingsun. The Rev. Herbert T. Hill will be the officiant.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to Girton Church of God, Risingsun.
Norman Finsel
Resident of Fostoria
Norman A. Finsel, 80, of TR 243, Fostoria, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.
He was born Aug. 20, 1921, in Hancock County to Ralph A. and Helen B. (Hoffbauer) Finsel, and both are deceased. He married Elva I. Cripps on Oct. 1, 1979, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria. He survives.
Survivors also include a brother, Charles Finsel of Findlay; four sisters, Mrs. Hubert (Mildred) Naderer of Fostoria, Mrs. Herbert (Mary) Gabel of Fremont, Mrs. Edward (Barbara) Zoltanski of Maumee and Mrs. Marvin (Catherine) Nofziger of Florida.
A sister, Ursula Maciejewski, preceded him in death.
Mr. Finsel was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria. He was a lifelong Hancock County farmer and also operated a retail propane business and was a certified auto mechanic for over 20 years.
The rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria. The rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Wendelin Catholic Church and Schools.
Helen Topel
Sister of local residents
Helen Christine Topel, 69, of Mason, Ohio, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
She was born Sept. 2, 1932, in Alvada to William and Lucy (Fraley) Kauffman. They are deceased. She married Carlton R. Topel Sept. 25, 1959, at St. Joseph Church in Tiffin. He survives.
Survivors also include: two sons, David Topel of Atlanta, Ga., and William Topel of Mason; three brothers, Joseph and Gene Kauffman, both of Tiffin, Donald Kauffman of Orlando, Fla; three sisters, Mrs. Carl (Rosemary) Clouse of New Riegel, Mrs. Robert (Clara) Kramer and Mary Stover, both of Tiffin; and a granddaughter.
Preceding her in death were: two brothers, Carl and Paul Kauffman; and three sisters, Esther Kauffman, Ruth Durdel and Rita Hoover.
Mrs. Topel was a 1950 Calvert High School graduate and a member of St. Susanna Catholic Church in Mason.
The rosary will be prayed at 10:45 a.m. followed by services at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin. The Rev. James K. Say will be the officiant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home in Tiffin.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Raymond Cook
Brother of Tiffin resident
Raymond Cook, 62, of Sergent, Ky., died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Healthcare Center.
He was born May 14, 1939, to the late Hatler and Sarah (Sexton) Cook.
Surviving are: two brothers, James R. Cook of Tiffin and Roy Cook of North Ridgeville; five sisters, Ivalee Meads of Sergent, Dorothy Collier of Cleveland, Jean Yonts of Columbia Station, Karen McElroy of Sergent and Teresa Sexton of Sergent.
Preceding him in death were: a son, Michael; three brothers, Astor, Wilbur and William Cook; and three sisters, Ruby Cook, Josephine Collier and Viola Fields.
Services will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday at Letcher Funeral Home Inc. in Whitesburg, Ky. Buddy Sexton and Bill Craft will be the officiants. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery in Ermine, Ky.
