Orpha A. Loader
RCA retiree/Tiffin resident's mother

Orpha A. Loader, 77, of 15180 CR 197, Mt. Blanchard, died at 8:20 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998, in Fox Run Manor, Findlay.

She was born Aug. 30, 1920, in Marion Township, to Clarence and Jessie (Cole) Wise. On Oct. 15, 1938, she married Deloss C. Loader. He survives.

Survivors also include: two sons, Alan D. Loader of Vanlue and James R. Loader of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Rosalyn) Smith of Delaware, Ohio; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Byron, Calvin and Max Wise, all of the Findlay area; and two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Hazel) Huffman and Vera Ellen Johnston, both of Findlay.

A sister, Dorothy Barger; and a brother, John Wise, are deceased.

Mrs. Loader, a graduate of Vanlue High School, retired from the RCA in Findlay, after 15 1/2 years of employment.

A former member of St. Paul Church, Vanlue, she attended the Beech Grove Church in Wharton.

Pastor Mark O. Burden and Pastor Floyd Thomas will be the co-officiants at the 11 a.m. Tuesday service in the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay. Interment will be in Zion Bloom Cemetery, near Vanlue.

Visitation at the funeral home is after 3 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to Beech Grove Church, Wharton, the Gideons or a charity of the donor's choice.

Carol V. Lutz
Retired hospital cook

Carol V. Lutz, 85, died Sunday morning, Aug. 30, 1998, at her home at 119 N. Main St., Attica, following an illness of several months.

She was born Dec. 25, 1912, in Attica, to Carl B. and Etta (Henry) Carpenter. Her husband, Leland L. Lutz, whom she married Feb. 12, 1933, in Tiffin, died in 1990.

Survivors include: two daughters, Leah L. Bulger of Attica and Mrs. Donald (Ann) Hinish of Bedford, Pa.; six grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Two sons, Carl L. Lutz and Bernard H. Lutz, and a grandson are deceased.

Mrs. Lutz, a member of the First Baptist Church of Attica and its Missionary Society, worked for many years as a cook at Willard Area Hospital, retiring in 1982. She also was a member of the Attica Just Friends Club.

Services will be noon Tuesday in the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, with the Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Burial will be in Attica-Venice Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Tuesday until time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Missionary Society, c/o Mrs. John Flood or the Seneca East Public Library.

Phillip E. Jordan
Stone quarry employee

Phillip E. Jordan, 40, of Rising Sun, died in Fostoria Community Hospital at 10:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 1998.

He was born in Carter County, Ky., April 21, 1958, to the late James and Pearlie (Dean) Jordan. On June 3, 1978, in Hatton, he married Laura B. St. Clair and she survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Crystal M. Jordan of Fostoria; sixsisters, Lilamae Fultz and Delores Trent, both of Kentucky, Joan Mallory of Custar, Bonnie Barnette of Fostoria, Christine Stamper of Willard and Paula Ray of Bradner; four brothers, William Jordan of Ashland, Ralph and Reford Jordan, both of Willard and Joseph Jordan of Bradner; and a grandchild.

An infant sister, Joyce Jordan, is deceased.

Mr. Jordan was employed at Macritchie Materials Stone Quarry in West Millgrove.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Barndt Funeral Home, Wayne, with Pastor Annabelle Roberts officiating. Burial will be private.

There will be no visitation.

James F. Watson
Atlas Crankshaft retiree

Former Fostoria resident, James F. Watson, 68, a four-year resident of the Ohio Veteran's Home, Sandusky, died at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998, in Providence Hospital, Sandusky.

Born April 13, 1930, in Springfield, to the late Burris G. and Helen (Landis) Watson Sr., he married Kathleen A. ''Kathy'' Babb, July 14, 1967, in Tiffin. She survives in Fostoria.

Also surviving are four sons, James, Robert, Mark and Thomas Watson, all of Texas; three step-brothers, Mike Smith of Millerstown, Gary Smith of Wapakoneta and Wayne Smith of Michigan; and three step-sisters, Sue Yoder of Urbana, Persilla Goodwich of Brooklyn, Mich. and Kay Koffee of North Carolina.

His step-mother, Parthenia ''Pat'' Watson; a brother, Burris Watson Jr.; and a step-brother, Bob Bailey, are deceased.

Mr. Watson, a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict, retired from Atlas Crankshaft, Fostoria, after 28 years of employment.

A 1948 graduate of Springfield Catholic Central High School, he was a life member of both American Legion Post 73, Fostoria and VFW Post 2858, Tiffin.

A funeral Mass in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rosary recited at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Fostoria American Legion, VFW and AMVETS.

Visitation at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today, where a Christian Wake service will be at 8:30 p.m.

Richard E. Shumaker
Retired electrical engineer

Richard E. Shumaker, 80, 520 S. TR 1179, died Friday, Aug. 28, 1998, at his residence.

He was born in Galion, April 30, 1918, to Reuben Eugene and Mary Melinda (Rehl) Shumaker. His wife, Margaret E. (Jaster) Shumaker, whom he married Jan. 17, 1943, in Washington, D.C., died March 7, 1994.

Survivors include: a son, Robert Shumaker of Williamsburg, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Caroline) Smith of Tiffin and Mrs. James (Marylin) May of Avon Lake; and four grandchildren.

A son, James Shumaker, is deceased.

Mr. Shumaker, a member of the First Baptist Church, graduated in 1937 from Toledo Woodward High School and in 1950 from the Ohio State University.

A retired electrical engineer, he had worked for RCA in Findlay, Philco and NASA, both in Sandusky and Babcock & Wilcox in Lynchburg, Va.

He served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division during WorldWar II, where he was awarded the Purple Heart.

He also was a member of the Rawson, Ohio Lions Club.

Private services in Greenlawn Cemetery and military graveside rites will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.

There will be visitation. The Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Autumnwood Care Center.
