David Earl Darby
Father of Tiffin resident

David Earl Darby, 71, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at his residence at 1079 Wilson Ave., Marion.

He was born in Tampa, Fla., Feb. 26, 1927, to Earl W. and Norine (Barb) Darby. On Feb. 26, 1949, in Bellevue, he married Josephine L. Mitchell. Shesurvives.

Other survivors include: a son, Stephen Darby of Tiffin; two daughters, Sandra Darby of Gahanna and Cynthia Darby of Columbus; two grandchildren; and several cousins and an uncle.

Mr. Darby, a 1944 graduate of Lakewood High School, attended Foundry Practice Trade School 1951-53, took management development courses level I, II and III at Wittenberg College and was a management development sponsor for the National Council of Industrial Management Clubs.

A U.S. Navy veteran 1944-48, he was employed as superintendent of the Foundry Division of Galion Iron Works, the Tiffin Foundry and Rim Rock, Columbus.

In 1976 he moved to Marion and was instrumental in founding the Foundry Division of Semco Inc., which he served as foundry manager and vice president until his retirement in 1989, then served as its consultant.

He also was a member of the American Foundry Society.

Mr. Darby donated his body to the Ohio State University, Department of Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy, Columbus.

There will be no service or visitation. The Denzer Farison Hottinger Funeral Home, Marion, is in charge of arrangements.

Abner C. May
Union Carbide retiree

Abner C. May, 79, of 8904 High St., McCutchenville, died at his residence at 2:43 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998.

He was born in Morgan County, Ky., March 21, 1919, to Reuben W. and Nannie (Dykes) May. His wife, Ruby Anita (Caudill) May, whom he married June 21, 1940, in Newport, Ky., survives.

Survivors also include: two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Wanda) McDermott of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. Donald (Peggy) Secoy of Upper Sandusky; four sons, Leonard May of Upper Sandusky, Darrell May of Bucyrus, Larry May of Sycamore and Carlos May of Upland, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby Phipps of Hazel Green, Ky.

Preceding him in death were a son, Harold May; a grandson, Jesse; five sisters, Mary E., Dolan, Francis, Nola and Alta; and four brothers, Elza, Hager, Ernest and Elmer.

Mr. May retired in 1981 as a machinist from Union Carbide in Fostoria, after 31 years of employment.

He was a 46-year member of the Pieratt Masonic Lodge 725, Lee City, Ky., and served three years in the Civil Conservation Corps.

The Rev. Brent Layne will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Thursday service in the First Freewill Baptist Church, Carey. Interment will be in Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin.

Visitation at the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey, will be 2-9 p.m. Wednesday. Masonic services will be at 8:45.

Memorials may be made to Wyandot County Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.

Everett H. Meade
Retired auto mechanic

Everett H. Meade, 58, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, at his home at 8499 E. TR 178, Green Springs.

He was born June 18, 1940, in Pike County, Ky., to W. Lawrence and Nineveth (Adkins) Meade. His mother survives in rural Green Springs. He was divorced.

Also surviving are an 18-year-old son, Ryan Meade of Idaho; a stepson, Russell Edgerton, also of Idaho; four brothers, Jack R., Kenny W. and Gary L. Meade, all of the Green Springs area, and Charles H. Meade of New London; and five sisters, Mrs. Jack (Ellen) Cain of Live Oak, Fla., Mrs. Phil (Jo Ann) Stiltner and Mrs. Ron (Mag) Caster, both of rural Green Springs, Sylvia Meade of Findlay and Mrs. Roger (Evelyn) Estep of rural Republic.

His father and a stepson, Lawrence Edgerton, are deceased.

A retired auto mechanic, Mr. Meade served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army.

He had resided in the Green Springs area since 1952.

Services in the Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs will be at noon Saturday, with the Rev. Charles H. Meade officiating. Burial will be in Butternut Ridge cemetery.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-5 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until time of the service Saturday.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Mary E. Lynch
Former Tiffin resident

Mary E. Lynch, 52, of 574 S. Walnut St., Bucyrus, died at 8:32 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident Dec. 13 in Tiffin.

Born Feb. 7, 1946, in Weston, W.Va., to Robert and Pauline (Nutter) Heater, she married Richard Lynch June 3, 1967. He survives. Her mother also survives in Tiffin.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Rhonda Lynch of Columbus and Mrs. Aaron (Kim) Blackburn of Bucyrus; a son, Ronald Lynch of Toledo; two grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Heater of Fostoria and Charles Heater of Ft. Collins, Colo.; a sister, Susan Lawrence of Tiffin; and nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Her father preceded her in death.

A 1965 graduate of Columbian High School, Mrs. Lynch worked at the Bucyrus Telegraph-Forum for several years, cleaned homes for many area families and helped care for her grandchildren.

She also graduated from the Georgianne Beauty Academy in Tiffin (now the Tiffin Academy of Hair Design) and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Bucyrus.

Mrs. Lynch moved from the Tiffin area in 1972.

The Rev. Dr. Ray LaSalle will officiate at the 11 a.m. Thursday service in the First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery, near Bettsville.

Visitation will be after noon Wednesday at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, Bucyrus, where the family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the church, in care of the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, 215 N. Walnut, Bucyrus, OH.
