Vincent I. Schroeder, 93, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 1998, at his residence in Ottawa.

He was born in Leipsic, July 19, 1904, to Frank and Amelia (Stechschulte) Schroeder. On Sept. 4, 1929, he married Kathryn Lammers, and she survives.

Other survivors include: seven sons, Vernon Schroeder of Ottoville, the Rev. Dennis Schroeder of Bucyrus, Mark and Vincent Jr. Schroeder, both of Leipsic, Earl Schroeder of Ottawa, Steve Schroeder of Atlanta, Ga. and Louis Schroeder of Chicago, Ill.; four daughters, Mrs. Bob (Marilyn) Ruhe of Leipsic, Mrs. Mike (Evelyn) Milano of Chicago, Pat Kern of Lima and Sister Paulette Schroeder OSF of Tiffin; 40 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Preceding him in death were a daughter, Phyllis Rieman; a son, Frank Schroeder; a grandson, Jeff Ruhe; seven brothers, Samuel, Lewis, Henry, Gerhard, Lawrence, Arnold and Joseph Schroeder; and two sisters, Veronica Kaufman and Christina Schmenk.

Mr. Schroeder, a retired farmer and former insurance agent for German Mutual Ins. Co., also was a former Miller City-New Cleveland School board member.

He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa; Ottawa Knights of Columbus; Ottawa Eagles and the Holy Aid at Holy Family Church, New Cleveland.

A funeral Mass in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church will be 10 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Dennis Schroeder as celebrant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation at the Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, is 7-9 p.m. today and 2-9 p.m. Thursday. Eagles services will be 7:30 p.m. today, Scripture services will be 8 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Putnam County Hospice.
