Skin healing method speeds up recovery

A tip of the hat to Mercy Hospital of Tiffin which, by using a new technique with synthetic skin cells, is helping patients heal chronic wounds more quickly. In the half year the technique has been used at the hospital, about 30 patients have received the synthetic skin. It is used to treat chronic open wounds, burns, and it can be used as a biologic dressing to allow a wound to heal. It is used mostly on the legs and feet, but can also be used on the face and any burned areas.

AIDS Council walk keeps people aware

The Seneca County AIDS Council, in sponsoring its fourth annual "Walk to Remember" at 1 p.m. May 6, will be reminding the community that this deadly pandemic has not gone away. The purpose of the walk will be to raise awareness of the impact of the disease in the community, to remember those who have been lost to AIDS, and to offer compassion to area residents who are living with HIV infection. People who are not personally connected to someone with HIV need to remember the importance to everyone of preventing its spread and finding medical solutions for those infected.
