Hats offBascom Mutual moves ahead Tip of the hat to Bascom Mutual Telephone for improving the network system to not only maintain the service, but to plan for the future. Bascom will begin installing a $3.5 million system in June which will allow for voice, video and Internet service. The phone company is one of a few small independent phone companies which will offer such service. We, as a community, are lucky to have a business in the area that has not only stood the test of time, but has the foresight to look to the future. Students help others with concert Congratulations to Seneca East High School students who reached out to others this week by hosting a benefit concert for a cancer victim. The four-member band, Wah-Zoo, decided to put on the concert to help a little brother of a fellow senior. The concert raised about $300 for the boy, but raised the hope in tomorrow's future by the millions. Trooper works to help youth Ohio Highway Patrol Trooper Phil Rickard should be commended for taking time out of his day to talk with New Riegel High School students about "None for Under 21.'' The presentation focused on discouraging students from driving while under the influence and included a fatal accident video and other items that made the realities of drinking and driving hit home. While many worry about gangs and violence, it's nice to see Rickard working so hard to help teens stay safe.
