Memorial Day gala to rival last year's

The committee arranging the Memorial Day events in Tiffin is moving toward another success.

The parade, ceremonies honoring the nation's war dead, the return of the Army reserve field kitchen and the addition of a balloon launch should prove to rival or surpass the 2000 festivities. Those drew the biggest crowd in years.

The continuing national emphasis on recognizing the accomplishments of the men and women who served during World War II should add to the Memorial Day atmosphere.

The events will start Monday with the 10 a.m. parade along South Washington Street from St. Joseph Church to the monument on Frost Parkway.

We would encourage all citizens to take part in Monday's festivities, and also to display their American flags each day of the Memorial Day weekend.
