Take time to partake in events on Monday
When the third day of your three-day weekend rolls around, we'd recommend you spend the late morning Monday taking part in the Memorial Day activities downtown.
What is being planned once the 10 a.m. parade heads north on South Washington Street will offer much more than in recent years.
It will be an opportunity to start the 2000s by joining fellow citizens across the United States in praising the sacrifices made for us by those who gave their lives in service to the nation.
Other veterans from all conflicts in the nation's history also will be honored.
In addition, the day will offer a chance for youngsters to see and hear about a part of their heritage.
Taking the time for the parade and subsequent ceremonies, activities and displays will be hours well spent.
