It will be Memorial Day that Tiffin will remember

A lot of people have expended a lot of effort to make this Memorial Day one to be remembered.

And &emdash; surely pleasing to those who worry that the honoring of the nation's war dead has been pushed to the background by the activities of a three-day weekend &emdash; this one has been focused on veterans ... alive and deceased.

That is a credit to those who have done the planning, organizing and orchestrating. And, as with many of the veterans who are being honored, these folks are not looking for recognition or glory. They just want the memorial and celebration to be done properly.

You can expect that to happen, because the preparations were thorough.

Memorial Day in the year 2000 indeed will be special.

Those who gave their lives in service of their nation will be remembered.

Those who served and returned also will be honored.

It will be the way Memorial Day ought to be.
