Hats off

City council addresses sidewalks

Tip of the hat to Tiffin City Council for addressing the sidewalk issue in the community.

Council agreed to check the condition of sidewalks near schools and parks to determine where new sidewalks are needed and where current sidewalks need to be repaired or replaced.

Council's effort will not only help school children have a safer walk to school, but will also help the community's appearance and make walking safer for everyone.

Walkers take great steps for all

The dedication of those who participated in the first Relay for Life in Tiffin should be commended.

The event, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, generated more than $25,000 for education, research and services offered to cancer victims and their families.

Thanks to the dedicated walkers and organizers of the event, more money is now available to help battle cancer and help the community cope with the deadly disease.

Kingseed plants for the future

Congratulations to Dennis Kingseed who has planted trees instead of the traditional beans and corn on his farm.

Kingseed, with help from a lot of friends, planted 4,000 trees on his tree farm. The move not only made sense for Kingseed, but will help the environment and the community.

Kingseed and others like him should be commended for tending to nature with a little helping hand and improving the area.
