Fair offers something for almost everyone

The arrival of the fair during a Seneca County summer prompts mixed feelings.

It's not as if there is a down side to the fair.

But when the fair starts, July is in full bloom and it's the middle of summer.

When the livestock have been sold, the rides torn down and the barns cleaned, it's into the first week of August.

School is only a few weeks away and it seems as if summer is waning.

But while it's here, the fair is a time to enjoy some of the best summertime has to offer. It's also an opportunity to get back in touch ... with people you often don't see the rest of the year and with the rural traditions that have done much to make this nation what it is.

The fair offers a potpourri of attractions, competitions and activities. It comes close to having something for everyone. And it's a lot of fun.

A visit to the fairgrounds this week is worthwhile just to see the accomplishments of the thousands of young people who take part.

We recommend it.

Remember, the benefits of summertime won't last forever. You'd better participate while you can.
