Saturday hats off

Display honors area veterans

A tip of the hat to the Operation Liberty folks who have brought to the Seneca County Fair at collection of foreign war memorabilia. It was made possible through a collaboration of the Disabled American Veterans, Amvets, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, individuals and other local organizations. Jim White, Operation Liberty's general chairman, said the four organizations came together to offer a display to honor area veterans. Other Operation Liberty highlights include military vehicles donated by local reserve units, uniforms and weapons from both a private donor in Tiffin and the Seneca County Museum.

Vote of confidence for Ritz programs

The staff and directors of the Ritz Theatre for the Performing Arts have to be pleased with the evident vote of confidence in programming shown by the start of single ticket sales Monday. People of all ages showed up early to get the best seats for the new season. At the end of the day some shows already had limited seating. It was estimated that the box office did about $50,000 in ticket sales Monday. Some of the orders came from as far away as New York and Illinois.

Fair board's work pays off

And a salute to the fair board for offering nine days of wholesome activities and fun. A good example is the Senior Citizen Day, which proves each year to be entertaining with a good dose of tongue in cheek humor. Neither the Elvis impersonator nor the seniors take themselves too seriously and everyone has a great time. A tip of the hat to the fair board for all their hard work.
