Fair volunteers work for successful week

Congratulations to the Seneca County Fair Board members who worked to make the Seneca County Fair a success this year.

Board members are asked to do just about anything &emdash; from hanging lightbulbs to moving bleachers &emdash; during the fair. Volunteers help out in arranging parking, but much of the work is done by the board members throughout the week.

This group effort works to make the fair an enjoyable event for all.

TU offers travel opportunities

Tip of the hat to Tiffin University's program of offering a $5,000 check to an outstanding faculty member for cultural enrichment.

This year, Shawn Daly, international marketing professor, was able to attend a conference for business academics in Venice, Italy, because of the program.

The travel program is not only a great bonus for faculty members, but also will allow professors to bring something special back to the classroom for the students.

Center offers children some summer learning

The Geary Family YMCA's Outdoor Center is offering children an opportunity to learn more about wind erosion and life in the outdoors.

The center offers children the opportunity to attend daycamp on the 7-acre grounds and enjoy hiking in the woods, cooking over a campfire and nature.

The hard work of the employees of the center should be commended for offering children, especially those who live in the city, a chance to see nature up close.
