Deference to moral 'diversity' eliminates moralityJust how badly have the forces of politically correct "diversity" corrupted the idea that there are such things as moral rights and wrongs? Look no further than the lurid case of two Florida teachers who were arrested in a raid on a private sex club. Kenneth Springer and Maya White were sent back to work this week by the Broward County School Board, albeit not in a classroom &emdash; pending the outcome of an arbitrator's decision. Springer and White allegedly were participants in a now-defunct "swingers" club where people went to engage in sexual activity with other people's wives and significant others. Springer was arrested with his wife; White with a male friend. At issue is whether they acted "immorally" by allegedly participating in the club. The school board initially voted to suspend the two without pay pending resolution of their criminal cases (they are charged with lewd and lascivious conduct), but &emdash; get this &emdash; public protests prompted the board to reverse course. Whether wife-swapping, or girlfriend-swapping or whatever swingers do is immoral hardly seems a close call. But because in the name of "diversity" every lifestyle choice is supposed to be equally valid, none can be declared immoral. It is sad that "swingers clubs" even exist, sadder still that supposedly responsible people charged with overseeing the education of children cannot decide whether "swingers" belong in a classroom. Not so long ago, few people would have had any difficulty discerning right from wrong in such a sordid case. That it is now considered a Herculean task requiring the services of an arbitrator speaks volumes about both the nation's moral decline and the cowardice of authorities under pressure of the "diversity" police.
