'Survivor' was entertaining -- and that's all Last week, during all the fuss about the end of the "Survivor" series of programs on CBS-TV, millions of people were having fun making their opinions known. They were talking about the winner, the also-rans, how the show concluded and about the interaction of the contestants. And fun is the result that should have been expected. Nothing of significance happened on that island, or afterward on millions of TV screens. "Survivor" was, is and will be as contrived as any other game show. It's designed to be entertainment. And that's all it is ... besides being one of the phenomena of the year 2000 ... and a classier platform for entertainment than "Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire?" |
