New home for village will bring benefits

When next September's Heritage Festival rolls around, the Living History Village will have a new home.

The artisans who practice the ways of days gone by will be at Hedges-Boyer park instead of on the grounds of the Tiffin Developmental Center.

That's both a shame and a blessing.

The Tiffin Center has been home to the village since its inception. And the scenic area along the brook has been an ideal setting for the living history displays.

The center deserves the thanks of all who appreciate the festival for proving a home for the village through the years.

But the move to the park will bring new advantages.

There will be more space.

Parking will be better.

Access to the park from two directions should relieve congestion.

And Hedges-Boyer &emdash; although different from the Tiffin Center setting &emdash; also offers a scenic site for the History Village.

Even if the first year requires a few adjustments by the participants, the move in the long run should prove to be one of benefit.
