Saturday hats off
Friends needed
A tip of the hat to those who are creating the Friends of the Seneca County Park District. The new organization will be looking for staff and money to help bring the park district's goals closer to reality. The group has established a list of projects that will make this county a better place in which to live.
People who want to volunteer or who need more information can e-mail secoparks@yahoo.com, write to Friends of the Seneca County Park District, P.O. Box 872, Tiffin, OH 44883 or call Judy Arnold at 448-0739.
Lesson in citizenship needed
Two common pleas court judges are about to give a lesson in citizenship. Fifteen potential jurors are facing contempt of court citations because they did not return a juror questionnaire after four mailings. Judge Michael P. Kelbley said that, from the current group of jurors, 15 failed to return the questionnaire originally sent to them about a month ago.
Kelbley and Judge Steve Shuff have sent letters ordering the 15 to appear at 10 a.m. Oct. 5 regarding the citations for contempt. There may be some valid reasons for lack of response in some cases. But we'll bet there are others who could use a civics lesson.
Debatewatch should be enlightening
Tiffin University's School of Arts and Sciences is offering an excellent opportunity for residents to get involved in the presidential campaign by sponsoring Debatewatch. The programs are to begin at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, on Oct. 10 and Oct. 17 in the Gillmor Student Center. The watches are free and open to the public; no reservations are needed. Those who attend will be able to take part in post-debate discussions that should be enlightening to all involved.
