Support new park district The three Seneca County Park District commissioners have worked as volunteers for several years without staff assistance to lay the groundwork to provide a park system in the county. Now, they're ready to put their plans in place. They are asking for a 10-year, 0.5-mill levy. The money would allow the commissioners to hire a director, set up office space, begin providing programs and possibly begin improving park property. Part of the money would be returned directly to community parks through a grant program administered by the park district. Local communities could apply for grants to maintain or develop parks within the townships and villages. About $15 a year for the owner of a $100,000 home is a small price to pay for the improved quality of life that park programs could provide.
