Reasons to support the Tiffin bond levy

We'll keep this short and simple. Here are two good reasons for voters in the Tiffin school district to support the bond levy Nov. 7:

Zero percent and $7.9 million.

Zero percent refers to the chance that the middle school and junior high school never will have to be replaced.

Face it, voters. A new building is inevitable.

The $7.9 million is, as most of you know by now, the amount of funding the state would grant toward the new middle school if the 2.75-mill bond levy passes.

We're not going to try to tell you that $7.9 million is free. No, that would come from state revenue - which means you state taxpayers already have contributed part of the construction costs.

What remains to be determined is who will get it. Because if the bond issue fails on Nov. 7, some other school district will get that money.

And the middle school and junior high still would need to be replaced. If it isn't done now, it'll just cost more later. And those state tax dollars you already have paid will be somewhere else.

There are thousands more reasons to approve the bond issue: one for each student who would attend the new school.

We like to think those reasons are the most important ones of all.
