Egbert should be retained
Two candidates are asking voters to choose them as Seneca County prosecuting attorney.
One, Kenneth Egbert Jr., already is doing the job. Before he was appointed to the position, he was an assistant prosecutor in the office for more than eight years.
Egbert has prosecuted more than 1,000 felony cases.
His opponent, Mark Klepatz, is in the appointed position of Tiffin city prosecutor. He has not actively campaigned, and has not produced reasons why voters should replace Egbert.
Since becoming prosecutor, Egbert has been a leader in the cooperative drug task force efforts in the county. He also has advanced ideas for improved cities-county cooperation in law enforcement and for obtaining grants to upgrade equipment available to village agencies.
On Nov. 7, we see a vote to keep Egbert in the prosecutor's office as the better choice.
Seneca County voters would be wise to keep Marguerite Bernard as treasurer Nov. 7.
Both Bernard and her opponent, write-in candidate Beth Souder, both look to use technology to boost service to the public, through such things as on-line tax payments.
Bernard, who has held the office since 1979, manages the office with skill and efficiency. She can be expected to continue this for another term.
Keeping Bernard as treasurer should translate to continued service to the people of Seneca County.
