Challenge faces new treasurer in Attica

Attica has a new village clerk-treasurer.

A judicial ruling has brought a welcome end to the village's historic public official problem ... but not to its financial records problem.

The mayor has appointed Attica's clerk-treasurer-elect as its immediate new clerk-treasurer.

He -- even with a lot of help from the state auditor's office -- faces the monumental challenge of restoring the village's financial records into a manageable and auditable status.

Attica officials need to know how much money they have, how much they have spent and what bills have been paid.

When Thursday arrives, residents of the village can be thankful that the official books are on the road to recovery.

While they are in a prayerful attitude, they might say one of intercession for Larry Dunson. The new clerk-treasurer could use the help as he and auditors try to bring order out of chaos.
