Harmon's words hit home with
readers
With the death of Bob Harmon, many people are saying the nice
things that should be said about him.
These tributes are to a man whose life included sports and column
writing, playing professional baseball, coaching, teaching, painting
and a variety of other pursuits. Among Bob Harmon's qualities were
some that could be applied to other lives ... for their
betterment.
Examples would be:
- Approach to faith: Harmon lived his every day. A conversation
with him usually ended with a blessing.
- Lack of pretense: When you dealt with or talked with Bob
Harmon, what you saw and heard was the whole story.
- Regard for family: He always seemed to be with or talking
about -- or both -- someone in his extended family. The column
below by carol Bogart provides more examples of this trait.
- Caring attitude: It would be hard to find a more selfless
person. This came through in his columns. Bob loved people of all
sorts, and it showed.
His was a touching example of how a rich life is not one that is
measured in dollars.
