The worst is what you have survived Give yourself -- if you are among those still able to reach it -- a pat on the back. You have survived the year of fussing and fretting. It is hard to imagine that any troubles caused by the arrival of the year 2000 could be worse than enduring all the expectant hype about it during the last year. The Y2K computer problem was no myth. Neither were the millions of dollars spent to solve it. Nor will the actual computer glitches -- especially in nations not so technically proficient -- be something to be ignored. But all the doomsday, canned-food, escape-to-the-woods, bury-your-cash, check-into-a-shelter furor has been irritating and boring in the past 12 months. So if you've gotten this far without smacking one of the doomsayers, give yourself some credit. You've survived the worst. And if Saturday's arrival does prove to bring a few computer problems, you can expect to survive some more. The world will go on about the same, whether or not the Y2K bug bites.
