Forfeits take duel out of dual

Calvert gave Arcadia forfeits in the first six matches during a 63-15 dual meet loss to Arcadia at Calvert High School.

Calvert 215-pounder Joel Borer highlighted the Senecas' efforts by pinning Josh Crow in 2:18 after the two wrestlers traded takedowns and escapes in the first period.

Jon Arbogast also recorded a pin for Calvert at 152. He decked Will Aufdencamp in 4:35.

The Senecas' other victory came from Britton Kimmet at 160. Kimmet posted a pair of backpoints and a takedown in the third period on his way to a 10-5 victory.

In the first contested match of the evening, Joel Kummerer dropped a 15-13 decision to Justin Velguetto at 140. Ron Steinmetz was pinned by Travis Ricker in 4:40 at 145, Chris Mathias was pinned by Joe Trout in three minutes at 171, Keven Rinaman was pinned by Matt True in 1:09 at 189 and John Brickner by John Yarborough in 49 seconds at 275.

Calvert's forfeits came at 103, 112, 119, 125, 130 and 135.

Clay tops Fostoria

FOSTORIA -- Fostoria wrestlers recorded three technical falls, but couldn't overcome eight Clay victories in a 45-21 dual meet loss to the Eagles.

The Redmen technical falls came from Nate Heiser (130), Brandon Distel (135) and Nick Frisch (152).

Heiser whipped Zac Martin 15-0, Distel beat Sean Swighart 17-2 and Frisch was a 16-1 winner over Dave Wolfe.

Fostoria's other wins came from J.J. Riley (145), who beat Mike Ziler, 8-7, and from Mike Gerritsen (171), who decisioned Casey Donley, 10-6. Fostoria also got a forfeit win at 189.

Clay won the first four matches, starting with Jason Baer's pin of Zach Schroeder at 103. Eric Seterian (112) beat Jesus Holguin 7-6, Josh Lewis (119) pinned Aaron Puckett in 51 seconds and Pat Mullana (125) blanked Brett Nelson, 9-0.

Clay's Brandon Beach (140) beat Justin Kiser, 10-6 and Ryan Franke (160) posted an 18-2 tech fall of Rich Gerritsen. Fostoria's Brian Williams and Adam Grine were pinned in the 215-and 275-pound matches, respectively.
