Calvert's Corthell top girl in NCOSL diving competition

ONTARIO &emdash; Marsha Corthell and Theresa Vela earned Calvert some big points Thursday in the start of the North Central Ohio Swim League Meet.

Corthell won the girls diving competition held at Ontario High School. The junior totaled 311.35 points on 11 dives while Vela, also a junior, was fifth overall with 179.95 points.

''She (Corthell) tried a couple new dives and was just off her best score of the year which is 322 points,'' said Calvert head coach Janet Stover. ''With the two girls placing, that's a good start for us.''

The meet resumes at 10 a.m. Saturday with the swimming events at Colonel Crawford High School.
