Calvert gets new record in backstroke

Chris Johnson set a school record and won three races Wednesday in Calvert's 57-32 swimming loss to Norwalk St. Paul.

Meanwhile, Jessie Ewald captured two girls races and Allie Pastorella took another as the Senecas split a double dual, falling 72-17 to the Truckers and beating Seneca East 36-24.

Johnson cruised to victory in the 100 backstroke in a school record 1:01.4 while also taking the 50 freestyle (23.29) and helping the 200 free relay win (1:44.96).

Chris Zoeller, Zack Firestone and Andy Haines were also on the relay.

Haines added a win in the 500 free (6:11.62) and was second in the 100 butterfly (1:03.83), Firestone took second in the 500 free (6:49.7) and third in the 100 fly (1:18.75) and Zoeller was fourth in both the 50 free (30.27) and 100 back (1:29.38).

Walter Marchi added thirds in the 100 free (1:14.71) and the 100 breast (1:34.62).

Firestone, Zoller, Marchi and Haines were second in the 400 free relay (4:44.22).

Ewald's two girls wins came in the 200 free (2:19.39) and 100 breast (1:11.96) while Pastorella captured the 100 free (1:09.11).

Katie Chwalik, Pastorella, Ewald and Erin Schumm competed in the 200 medley relay (2:28.46) and 200 free relay (2:01.66).

Chwalik also took part in the 100 back (1:39.52).

Swimming in the 50 free were Schumm (31.11), Theresia Saurer (39.63) and Rebekah Shook (34.78).

Haleigh Kuhn (1:17.8) and Saurer (1:30.13) swam in the 100 free and Shook (1:53.8) and Pastorella (1:30.42) competed in the 100 breast.
