Cardinals trounce Berg

WESTERVILLE -- Two out of three isn't bad, but the final one was the one that counted for Heidelberg.

The Berg scored two regular season wins over Otterbein, but the Cardinals got revenge in the first-round of the Ohio Athletic Conference at the Rike Center, posting a 95-70 win.

Four players hit double figures for the Cardinals (19-6), who will advance to play John Carroll on Friday. Former Worthington Christian standout Kevin Weakley paced the group with 27 while Ryan Roston added 21 and Jeff Gibbs 18. Trevor Younkin rounded out things out with 11.

Gibbs also did his part on the boards, which Otterbein dominated 50-33, with 13 while Roston grabbed 12. That helped to offset the Cardinals three more turnovers.

Otterbein, which connected on 34-of-65 field goals, was in control from the start and finished up the first half with a 45-25 advantage. The Cardinals finished by outscoring Berg (11-14) 50-45 in the final half.

Jeremy Ayers knocked down 6-of-12 3-pointers for Heidelberg on his way to a team-high 20 points. Nate Walters added two more long balls and totaled 13 points while Randy Evans chipped in with nine.
