TU softball team takes pair from Bluffton
The Tiffin University softball team moved two steps closer to the .500 mark by sweeping a pair of games from Bluffton, 2-0 and 8-0.
The Dragons improved to 6-8.
Misty Nichols and Jodi Moritz knocked in the only two runs in the first game, and Robin Farrand fired a six-hitter to pick up the win on the mound. Christy Prast had a pair of hits and Davin Berrier had one for the Dragons.
In the second game, Michelle Slark gave up just two hits and didn't walk a batter in picking up the victory.
Offensively, the Dragons were a perfect 8-8 in the stolen base category, led by Berrier (3-for-3) who swiped four.
Moritz (two RBI) and Kate Siroky (two RBI) both had two hits for Tiffin, and Nichols and Prast had one apiece.
"(Solid pitching) has been the story of the season for us," coach Ron Schumacher said. "But our bats kind of woke up a bit which is a good sign because we're going into a big weekend. We have our first conference opponent in ODC on Saturday, but we've got Heidelberg (today)."
