Warrior girls 2nd, boys 3rd in first meet

GALION - Mohawk's boys took first place in five different events and second in three more, but it wasn't enough to hold off Galion and Colonel Crawford.

For the girls, Kim Arbogast was winner in the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles, but Mohawk was second in the team standings behind runaway winner Colonel Crawford.

Finishing in the top spot for the boys were Jim Lust (shotput, 41-7), John Stansbery (100, 12.06), Mike Haynes (high jump, 5-8), Nick Kuhn (200, 24.36) and the 4x100 relay team of Tyler Beckley, Stansbery, Kevin Kingseed and Kuhn with a time of 46.9 seconds.

Nabbing second place finish for the boys was the 3200 relay team of Chad Acton, Aaron Roush, Derek Weaver and Kuhn as they had a time of 9:20. Also in a runner-up spot was Stansbery (200, 25.16) and the 1600 relay team of Eric Fatzinger, Trent Arter, Haynes and Kingseed in 3:53.

Pacing the Arbogast effort for the girls were six second place finishes. They belonged to Sarah Bronson (100, 13.74), Emily Ruffing (800, 2:45), Abby Ward (1600, 6:02) and Tiffany Karcher (200, 28.20).

Joining them was the 1600 relay team of Brandi Weininger, Arbogast, Ruffing and Ward in 4:44. Arbogast, Ward, Karcher and Amber Pasko also were runner-up in the 400 relay.
