Bettsville to play again today in tourney
OLD FORT -- Eric Miller was a one-man wrecking crew in Old Fort's 11-0 victory over Bettsville.
In the first inning, the Old Fort senior slapped a two-run single. Then in the second he slammed a three-run home run.
Freshman Jason Stallard (2-2), meanwhile, pitched a one-hit shutout. He struck out nine and walked one. Fellow freshman Nick Margraf had two doubles, a single, and 3 RBI.
Old Fort (5-9, 2-3) didn't commit an error, and Bettsville only had two errors. Nick Baker had Bettsville's lone hit.
NORTH BALTIMORE -- Mike Breyman struck out 13 and hit a solo home run in Seneca East's 6-2 win over North Baltimore.
The win was Breyman's seventh against no losses. North Baltimore ace Ryan Clark struck out eight, but was was tagged for a three-run home run in the second inning by Jeff Sealey to open the scoring.
The home run was Sealey's third of the year.
''Clark is their number one pitcher and he's left-handed,'' Seneca East coach Frank Lamoreaux said. ''He's one of the toughest left handed pitchers we'll have to face and some of our better hitters are left-handed.''
''It wasn't the best game Mike's thrown, and part of that also is that North Baltimore is a pretty good team. They made him work. He did a good job for not having his best stuff.''
Seneca East continued to roll through Midland Athletic League foes, going to 6-0 in the conference and 16-1 overall. North Baltimore moved to 6-7 overall and 2-3 in the MAL.
