Blanchard Valley League
The Tiffin AMVETS used good pitching Monday and good hitting Tuesday to move to 6-1 on the year. Monday, Ben Collar fanned 10 in an 8-5 victory over Riverdale. Collar, Mike Everhart and Andy Zirger each belted two singles, Michael Perna doubled and singled, Randy Frederick smacked a triple and Tom Berry and Craig Spader both singled. The AMVETS belted out 15 hits Tuesday in its 13-9 road win over the Findlay Royals. Perna led the charge with a pair of triples and a double as AMVETS moved to 6-1 on the year. Ryan Clouse added three singles, Frederick doubled and singled and Anthony Theis and Zirger both had two singles. Collar, Slosser, Spader and Everhart each added a single. Frederick came on in relief of Theis to earn the win while Clouse got the save, striking out four of the five batters he faced.
Seneca County Pony League
Tiffin slipped by Old Fort 4-3 in a pitcher's duel. Tiffin's Brad Jacobs and Dan Heilman of Old Fort each struck out 11. Tyler Shuff picked up his second save of the year. Jacobs helped himself with a double while Corey Peacock, Tim Spencer and Robert Murphy all singled. Old Fort got a double from Kevin Kerline and a single each from Heilman and Randy Ardery.
Brandt Weininger and Travis Danner combined to fan 14 batters as unbeaten Mohawk Red downed Republic 6-3 Monday. Weininger earned the win and slapped a pair of singles for Mohawk, which moved to 7-0. Danner got the save, pitching the last two innings. Ryan McClain tagged a doubled and two singles, Dusty Sours singled and doubled, Ian Faber ripped two singles, David Peck had a two-bagger and Jason Angle singled. Republic (4-3) got four singles, one each from Justin Wittenmyer, Tony Schevely, David Ruffing and Jared Fruth.
ACME
Jason Humphrey and Brett Hammer proved too tough for Upper Sandusky in New Riegel's 11-0 win. The duo teamed up to twirl a five-inning two-hitter while accounting for five hits and three RBI for New Riegel. Humphrey, who earned the win, fanned four in three innings and knocked in a pair on two singles and a triple. Hammer did not allow a hit but rapped two singles and had an RBI for himself. Darin Nye added an RBI, single and double while Jonathan Kauffman drove in a run off two singles.
Tiffin Area Babe Ruth League
Aaron Gannon tossed a no-hitter and Moose plated 12 runs in the second in a 16-1 rout of Bair Brothers. Gannon fanned seven in the win and helped himself with two singles. Aaron Gressman led the offense with two doubles and single for five RBI while John Peck drove in two on two singles. Nate Bryant singled twice, Jason Ball had an RBI double, Chris Pfaff doubled and T.J. McEwen and Alex Claudio each had a single.
Prep Division
Eagles led 22-4 after the top of the third inning on the way to a 34-15 win over Potters Local 7-A. Anthony Evers led Eagles with a home run, double and single for four RBI while Cory Hess drove in seven on two doubles and a single. Chris Morgan's three singles chased home three runs, Todd Miller singled twice and doubled to drive in three runners, Richie Cline and Zac Ball both had 2RBI off two singles, Stephanie Harrold and Jonathan Distel each had a single and 2RBI and Danny Jordan and Derek Luidhart both had four RBI and two singles. Jamie Dull earned the win. Jay Taylor topped Potters' efforts with three singles for four RBI. Shane Shaade drove in a pair and singled, Chris Agerter had three RBI and a single, Matt Lewis and Josh Davis each drove in a run and singled and Brian Eisenhard singled.
E League
The Orioles got 12 extra-base hits - two of them homers - in a 16-1 victory over the Royals. Winning pitcher Aaron Hurd had one of the home runs, plus a single and triple. Alex Gase added a home run and a double. Andrew Althaus doubled and had two triples, Park Woods and Willard McDole each doubled, Ryan McCory had two singles, Brandon singled and doubled and Cory Kummerer belted a single, double and triple. Darris Correll, Michael Ott and Josiah Greenwald all had a single. The Royals' three hits were a single by Billy Puesey, a double by Jared Bell and a triple by Spencer Williams.
Patrick Woodman had quite a day for the Mets in a 6-2 win over the Athletics. Woodman not only earned the win, but drove in four runs with a home run and two singles. Eli Razavi added an RBI double while Ryan Dell had a run-scoring single. Matt Bowen belted a homer and a single for the Athletics while Odia Halcomb doubled and tripled. The Athletics also got a single from Jake Stover, Sean Shown, Charles Ott and Zach Hayes.
Tiffin Ponytail
Tiffin Hardware got a grand slam from Krista Zeigler, but still lost 12-6 to Chiropractors. September Slosser led Chiropractors with three singles while Melody Snyder and Jessica Steinmetz each singled twice. Rochelle Huffman and Sarah Eingle both had singles. Tiffin Hardware got two singles from Mindy Hackenburg, Katie Chwalik and Dana Olinger both doubled and Kelli Bloomfield added a single.
San-Sen-Wyan
Senior Division
Calvert jumped out 4-0 in the bottom of the second inning, but Carey II took over from there to earn a 12-6 win. Laurie Ehrenfried led Calvert with a pair of singles while Jessie Maiberger, Mindy Garcia, Marisa Paulus and Erin Schumm each singled.
CORRECTION: Due to an editing error, Micah Lundy was not credited with the win in VFW's 26-3 victory over Paper and Ink in Babe Ruth League baseball Tuesday.
