Bucks take team title in golf tournament
Buckeye Central had a near sweep at the Seneca East Invitational golf tournament at Clinton Heights Thursday.
The Bucks won the team title with 324 and Triplett finished with 78 to lead the way, sharing medalist honors with Alex Plotts of Calvert.
"That's a terrific round for him (Plotts)," said Calvert head coach Scott Brickner. "From the ninth hole on, it just poured and he was able to shoot a 78 in that muck. I'm pretty happy with the way he's playing."
It was a tight battle for medalist honors as Jeff Koss of St. Wendelin and Jon Rollins of Bettsville were each just one shot off the pace with 79 and Dentinger of Buckeye Central had 80.
St. Wendelin also was just five strokes back of Buckeye Central in the team chase with 329. In addition to Koss, the Mohawks also got 83's from Andrew Daib and Tommy Kemp while Steven LeForge had 84.
Mohawk was third in the standings with 340, edging Bettsville on the tiebreaker (No. 5 player's score).
Scott Parker led Mohawk with 81, followed by Slone Rhoad with 85, Tony Arend had 86 and Jesse Lehnert had 88. Following the 79 by Rollins, Bettsville also got 83 from Nick Baker while Jeremy Schumm had 88 and Jason Lee rounded out the scoring with 90. Mohawk's fifth score was an 89 by Matt Lee while the Bobcats got a 91 from Josh Schumm.
With the help of Plotts, Calvert took fifth place with 347 in the 10-team field. Rob Ritzler had 88 while Matt Cramer added an 89 and Gino Paulus checked in with 92.
Matt Hoke led Old Fort to sixth with 348. He had an 82 while Erik Lynch followed with 85, Chad DeMonte had 89 and Randy Schlosser 92.
Carey was seventh with 351 as Richard O'Reilly led with 81, followed by Jacob Beck with 86, Cory Kitzler with 89 and Shane Thompson had 95.
Seneca East was ninth with 391 as Jake Waldock had 86, Mike Breyman added 99 and both Nate Dentinger and Scott Siesel each had 103.
Hopewell-Loudon was 10th with 405 as Aaron Vay led with 88, Aaron Hess had 101, Marcus Breidenbach added 102 and Danny Ray had 114.
