Koss and Diab get Mohawks off to good start

FOSTORIA -- St. Wendelin's Jeff Koss was medalist at Loudon Meadows with a 40, and teammate Andrew Diab fired a 41 in SW's 167-178 win over North Baltimore.

Ryan Smith and Steven LeForge shot 43s in the dual opener for St. Wendelin. Tommy Kemp finished with a 44 and Andy Schock turned in a 54.

Joe Baltz (42), Aaron Heyman (43) and Adam Benedict (45) led North Baltimore. Dan Stimmel and Justin Cramer each shot a 48, and Dave Tellez shot a 51.

St. Wendelin heads to Bob's Country Golf today for a meeting with Carey.

Chieftains drop dual opener

FOSTORIA -- Van Buren put four golfer at 40 or below and defeated Hopewell-Loudon at Lakeland Golf Club, 151-190.

"We're doing a little better than we had been," Hopewell-Loudon coach Tom Swanagan said. "We've still got a long way to go, but we're showing improvement."

Aaron Vay paced the Chieftains (0-1) with a 45, Derek Hess shot a 46 and Jeremy Fletcher carded a 47. Jeremy Feasel finished with a 52, Danny Ray had a 53 and John Wisebaker a 64.

Medalist honors went to VB's Rob Laurent with a 35, and Rob Frederick was right behind with a 36. Dustin Fields and Eric Tong shot 40s, Matt Martin turned in a 42 and Kris Goshe shot a 45.

Hopewell-Loudon plays Bettsville at Nature Trails today.
