Calvert rolls past Crestline

CRESTLINE -- Calvert moved to 3-0 Monday by rolling over Crestline for the Senecas' second straight 5-0 tennis victory of the year.

The Senecas were hardly challenged in any of the matches.

Calvert got identical 6-0, 6-0 wins from Mary Kin at No. 1 singles and both doubles teams of Stephanie Keefe and Allisun Kelbley and Lisa Vella and Sarah Shuff.

Jenny Haley took the No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-2 while Kasey Vogel earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles.

Calvert's easy victory came 11 days after the Senecas sloshed their way to a 5-0 win at Sandusky St. Mary's. All of those wins were by 6-0, 6-0 scores in a pouring rain storm.

The only change in the lineup in that match from Monday's match was having Doepker with Vella at No. 2 doubles.

Madison trips up Tornadoes

Mansfield Madison handed Columbian its first loss of the year, tripping up the Tornadoes 3-2 Monday.

Columbian, which dropped to 2-1, got its two wins at No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles.

Rachel Lape blanked Shannon Sweeney 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles while Amber Shellhamer and Lara Ellinger coasted to a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles over Madison's Kim Kline and Mary Simmons.

Columbian made the Rams, who improved to 4-1, work for their victories.

Madison's Kristi Remy lost her first set 6-4 to Michelle Maxwell before battling back 6-0, 6-4 for the No. 1 singles win.

Lauren Drew of Columbian dropped a 6-2, 6-1 match to Tabi Smith at No. 2 singles.

Columbian's Katie Decker and Sara Theis doubled up Hallie Colangelo and Kristy Murphy 6-3 in the first set of the No. 2 doubles match before the Madison duo scratched out the last two sets 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 for the victory.
