Tornadoes top Flashes for second time
WILLARD -- Columbian got its second league win of the year by beating its first victim, Willard, 175-181.
Chris Meyer shot a 41 to lead TC to victory. Donny Thompson carded a 43 and Pete Grangaard fired a 44. Neal Seaborn shot a 47 for Columbian, followed by Ryan Wertz with a 48 and Mike Everhart with a 49.
Columbian is at Galion today.
At Sycamore Hills Golf Course, St. Joe scored a 156-189 win over Hopewell-Loudon Monday with Pete Lewton grabbing medalist honors for the Crimson Streaks (5-5) with a 2-over-par 37.
Mike Zimmerman was just one shot off the pace with 38, followed by Roman Ruppert with 39 and David Babione with 44.
Jeremy Fletcher and Sean Harrison shared low honors for Hopewell-Loudon (0-10) with 46 apiece while Aaron Vay followed with 48 and Danny Ray had 49. Also, Marcus Breidenbach had a 53 and Derek Hess added a 55.
At Catawba Willows, Danbury was consistent in a 162-172 win over Seneca East Monday.
Jeff Biro and Perry Geller shared honors for the winning Lakers (3-7) with 40s while Mike Chura and Tim Calvert each had 41.
Seneca East, dropping to 1-9) had the medalist for the day as Mike Breyman led with 38. Jake Waldock was just two shots off the pace with 40 while Randy Phillips had 46 and Nate Dentinger added a 48. Also, Rob Molyet had a 51.
SYCAMORE -- Mohawk Golf Club played host to a Warrior win on Monday as Mohawk beat Old Fort, 179-190.
Scott Parker grabbed medalist honors, shooting a 39 to lead Mohawk. Tony Arend was next with a 43. Andy Hess shot a 48 and Sloan Rhoad a 49 for the Warriors. Jared Reamer (53) and Matt Lee (56) also played varsity for the winners. Mohawk improved to 4-3.
Matt Hoke (45) and Chad DeMonte (46) had the low scores for the Stockaders, who slipped to 3-7. Erik Lynch shot a 48, Kyle Schmidt turned in a 51, Jessica Garcia shot a 56 and Tyler Stover carded a 58.
Both teams play today. Mohawk goes to Fostoria Country Club to face St. Wendelin while Old Fort hosts New Riegel at Nature Trails.
