St. Wendelin, St. Joe win at Old Fort Invitational
BETTSVILLE -- St. Wendelin, fresh from a second-place finish at the Holly Invite in Michigan, edged Fremont St. Joe for the Old Fort Invitational boys championship Tuesday at Els Park.
Mike Chapman of St. Joe claimed individual honors in 16:26 while Old Fort's Jeremy Riehm was 20 seconds back in 16:46. St. Wendelin also had a pair of runners in the top five with Dominic Krupp third in 17:27 and Josh Souder fifth in 17:43. Sandwiched between was Western Reserve's Aric Wagner in 17:36.
St. Wendelin finished with 57 points while St. Joe had 65. Danbury was third with 134 while Cory-Rawson was fourth with 138 and New Riegel rounded out the top five with 149. North Baltimore was sixth with 157, Western Reserve followed with 160, Carey had 170 and Calvert had 187. Old Fort didn't have enough runners to figure in the team score.
St. Joe won the girls title with 42 points while Pandora-Gilboa was second with 57, followed by Mohawk 106), Cory-Rawson (119), Carey (121), Western Reserve (148), St. Wendelin (166), Hopewell-Loudon (176), Calvert (178) and Old Fort (278).
Pandora-Gilboa swept the top two spots with Sarah Eubank first in 20:00 and Kinsy Miller second in 20:27. St. Joe's Trish Snyder was third in 21:03, followed by Abby Ward of Mohawk in 21:12 and St. Joe's Joni Wilhelm in 21:18.
Jeff Urbanski was 14th for the St. Wendelin boys in 18:29 while Josh Prince was 17th in 18:36 and Bryan Williams was 18th in 18:37. Also, Andy Huber was 28th in 19:17 and Nick Shultz was 33rd in 19:40.
Jeremy Velliquette was ninth for St. Joe in 18:11 while Adam Miller was 10th in 18:15, Dan Chudzinski was 21st in 18:53 and Dave Hoelzle was 24th in 18:59.
Aaron Reinhart led New Riegel in 15th with 18:31 while Curtis Smith was 19th in 18:39, Kiel Mathias was 36th in 19:44, Joe Schalk was 37th in 19:45 and Justin Depinet was 42nd in 19:51. Also, Brandon Reinhart was 43rd in 20:01 and David Borer was 54th in 21:27.
Josh Courtad was seventh for Carey with 17:55 while A.J. Kessler was 11th in 18:19, Adam Clauss was 45th in 20:05, Erick Hanna was 50th in 20:46 and Alan Beck was 57th in 21:51.
Calvert was led by Tommy Smathers in 22nd with 18:54 and Matt Pastorella was right behind in 23rd with 18:58. Zack Firestone was 31st for the Senecas in 19:31 while Todd Hartman was 52nd in 21:03 and Marcel Kappel was 59th in 22:11.
Along with Riehm, other Old Fort runners included Abel Brown in 29th with 19:21, David Myers 47th in 20:13, Nathaniel Mellott 62nd in 24:25 and Ryan Vaugher 63rd in 27:58.
In addition to Snyder and Wilhelm, St. Joe girls also had Keri Oxley in seventh with 21:46, Maryanne Pickett was 13th in 22:40 and Tracy Snyder was 14th in 22:55.
Ward led Mohawk with Emily Ruffing 10th in 22:15, Megan Ruffing was 15th in 22:56, Julie Goshe was 30th in 23:36 and Jodi Calmes was 40th in 24:41. Also, Jessica Scott was 51st in 25:35 and Nicole Tooley was 57th in 26:31.
Laura Breitigam was eighth for Carey in 22:05, Alicia Derr was 11th in 22:35, Cassandra Pieracini was 22nd in 23:17, Heidi Pieracini was 31st in 23:50 and Rachel Beck was 50th in 25:34. Also, Sally Doran was 58th in 26:46 and Katie Hill was 65th in 29:00.
Sara Dotson led St. Wendelin in 16th with 22:57 while Sybil Wireman was 33rd in 24:02, Wendy Shreiner was 35th in 24:13, Katie Mennel was 37th in 24:21 and Jackie Bouillon was 45th in 24:55. Also, Cara Fry was 49th in 25:21.
Ashley Miller was sixth in 21:25 for Hopewell-Loudon while Lindsay Dell was 27th in 23:26, Melissa Ritter was 39th in 24:25, Jenny Boehler was 47th in 24:59 and Michelle Reinhart was 59th in 26:49. Also, Kendra Patrick was 60th in 27:12 and Heather Creeger was 66th in 29:33.
Jessica Ewald led Calvert with 17th in 23:00 while Sara Sacksteder was 25th in 23:21, Sarah Kuebler was 42nd in 24:43, Lisa Vela was 43rd in 24:46 and Jenny Galipeau was 52nd in 26:05. Also, Amanda Smith was 63rd in 27:48.
Leah Pfeiffer was 38th for Old Fort in 24:22 while Hillary Keegan was 56th in 26:26, Jessica Berlekamp was 62nd in 27:43, Amanda Noss was 64th in 28:38 and Vickie Lopez was 67th in 32:11.
